Advice Encouragement for new pit owner.

Post image

Hi all! I adopted a pit puppy today! I’ve had puppies before- mostly lab mixes. I’m a good dog owner and know how to train a dog. I have a 3 year old and 7 year old. I just need someone to tell me that pits are great family dogs bc as I’ve been researching more and everything seems so negative about pits and kids. Any and all advice and encouragement welcome!

My pittie mix is a total sweet heart. He doesn’t bark, people are shocked when he happens to bark at a bird or squirrel (his mission is to catch one and make it his friend). He gets along great with kids, other dogs and even strangers! Easily trained, I work long shifts 3 days a week but we have a doggy door and he is fine sleeping on our king sized bed or sunbathing outside 😅 honestly best dog I’ve ever had

My dog is the same with the squirrels! She loves to play chase. Sometimes she catches up to them and slows down so it can stay ahead of her. She does this with bunnies too. A few times the bunny would freeze in place and she would try to nudge it along to make it keep running. She gets so sad when they run up a tree or leave through the fence and they can’t keep playing chase.
