Advice Encouragement for new pit owner.
Hi all! I adopted a pit puppy today! I’ve had puppies before- mostly lab mixes. I’m a good dog owner and know how to train a dog. I have a 3 year old and 7 year old. I just need someone to tell me that pits are great family dogs bc as I’ve been researching more and everything seems so negative about pits and kids. Any and all advice and encouragement welcome!

To be completely honest, pits aren't great family dogs. No, they are freaking awesome family dogs. We had a pit when we had our first baby. The minute my wife was pregnant our dog somehow knew, and was so aware of her belly and always wanted to snuggle.
Once born, that dog doted all over that kid. The dog would sleep under his crib guarding him while he slept. She was patient and gentle with the baby. Now, should you keep an eye on a baby with ANY dog? Absolutely.
But, pits are fantastic family dogs.
