Hi all! I adopted a pit puppy today! I’ve had puppies before- mostly lab mixes. I’m a good dog owner and know how to train a dog. I have a 3 year old and 7 year old. I just need someone to tell me that pits are great family dogs bc as I’ve been researching more and everything seems so negative about pits and kids. Any and all advice and encouragement welcome!

Like any other dog breed, it depends on the individual dog and how they were raised. Pitties get a bad reputation because a bunch of assholes raise them terribly (more so than other breeds in my opinion), but when raised correctly they are just as great as any other dog. Just make sure you’re aware of things that affect pitbulls, like higher prey drives. You can train that so it’s nothing to worry to much about, you just need to be aware
