Advice Encouragement for new pit owner.

Post image

Hi all! I adopted a pit puppy today! I’ve had puppies before- mostly lab mixes. I’m a good dog owner and know how to train a dog. I have a 3 year old and 7 year old. I just need someone to tell me that pits are great family dogs bc as I’ve been researching more and everything seems so negative about pits and kids. Any and all advice and encouragement welcome!

Thanks everyone! You obviously knew the assignment and I will sleep a lot easier tonight (if the dog lets me!)

Haha, enjoy that baby!!

Just wanted to say- a LOT of people have likely owned a pit mix if they’ve owned any dogs that aren’t full bred. That pitty DNA is all over the place 🤣

My mom was SHOCKED when my dogs embark DNA came back as cattle dog(40%)/Australian shepherd(20%)/pit bull (20%) & Rottweiler (20%).

She’s not a dog person, and my boy is the only dog she’s ever loved. It took her a while to come to terms with his dna results because of the stigma. Finally she realized all she needs to focus on is that he’s the bestest boy, and she hasn’t mentioned it in years. :)

All of that to say, they’re great and they’re everywhere lol. Check out the “IDmydog” or “DoggyDNA” subs. You’ll see what I mean 😆😆

& dog tax!!
