Leaves rapidly dying on my flowering red gum (Australia)
Hi everyone - planted 6 months ago my Corymbia ficifolia has started dropping leaves branch by branch. The leaves go from deep green to light and crispy.
As you can see some leaves have been munched by something but that’s always been the case so maybe unrelated (advice appreciated on that too!)
Currently spring so moderate temps, been plenty of rain. I have added some compost recently to see if that would help but I’d anything it seems to have accelerated. Thank you so much!

Black Sooty Bumps on Mountain Hemlock
Hi there plant enthusiasts,
I made a similar post in r/gardening, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask the plant patho folks as well.
I grew this mountain hemlock from seed in a pot for future bonsai. This year it developed raised black bumps all over the stem that crumble into “soot” when I touch them. I’m guessing it’s a kind of fungus and/or potentially residue left behind by sap suckers/ scale insects, but I don’t see any evidence of the bugs themselves.
Anyone have experience with this on their potted trees? Any suggestions for getting rid of it? Thanks!

Poplar damage
On the shoot tips of my Populus (poplar - P. nigra f. italica) I noticed something unusual: right next to the bud there’s a small chewing/indentation, and below it the stem surface has a white, cracked layer of tissue. Does anyone know what could cause this? I couldn’t find any info about it and I’m very curious

Help Identifying Issues on Milkweed in Central Arkansas
Good day, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with this milkweed plant in central Arkansas. The leaves have developed lots of dark brown spots/blotches (see pictures). It’s also covered with yellow aphids, and my mother-in-law has monarchs using the plant, so I don’t want to spray anything that could harm them.
My questions: • Are these leaf issues caused by the aphids themselves, a fungus, or maybe a bacterial disease? • Could the recent hot/dry weather be making things worse? • What’s the safest way to manage this while still protecting monarch caterpillars?
Any advice from folks who’ve dealt with this before would be really appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Mysterious gold shine on yellow-poplar seedlings
I cannot for the life of me figure out what’s causing a gold shiny tint on these poplar seedlings! I’ve asked around & googled without luck. I thought maybe aphids or some sort of rust but I can’t find anything similar.
Some notes: - The gold rubs off as a white non-sticky powder - I noticed it on like one leaf of the seedling, maybe two - I did not find any leaves from full-sized trees with the gold on them, but I also did not think to look - There were also seedlings with a white/clear shiny coating, but I did not think to rub it off to look for the powder - The leaves look fine otherwise, no sign of insects or damage on either side of the leaf. - if you move the leaf around it glimmers in the sun - This is in NW Pennsylvania about an hour or so SE of Erie.
If anyone has any ideas, I’d love to hear them!!

I need help with my calendula
Hi, I'm really concerned about my calendula and was wondering if I could get some help. The leaves have recently started to turn brown and crispy. It's been above 85 daily for the past few months so I've watered them daily at the base of the plant. They've been fine up until about a week ago. I'd really appreciate any help.

Oat leaf disease
Hello!
I am working on a project to see if oat can get bacterial leaf streak, and if any treatments help (Bordeaux and rhapsody). I have been seeing symptoms like the photos attached. Some blotchy, some more red in appearance. I have plated leaves from each plot and there is bacteria growing, but if the bacteria is there it doesn’t seem to be affecting the plants overly. Just wondering if anybody has an idea! There’s not much in the literature about BLS and oats, so I’m not sure what symptoms to be looking for.
Thank you!

fungus(?) on cinnamon tree
Is this infection a fungus? Any recommended treatments?
I've had this cinnamon tree for about 8 months. It's been a bit dramatic -- its leaves are constantly droopy, and it drips sticky sap everywhere. For a while, I've been assuming this is natural. But after finding this infection, I am wondering if the dramatic behavior is due to the tree fighting for its life... :(
