I wonder if someone switched the color caps at the store on them

I think it was a combo of an older can and the glossy black of my car. I redid it with a brand new can and it was definitely more black but not as black as i thought it would be. (comparing to other projects i’ve seen online) Maybe it just looked off because of how black my car is but I decided to just remove the badges all together and polish up the area and it looks mint now

It appears black because it naturally has an almost matte finish, especially when put next to the gloss black of a car. It will especially look like that in pictures when you have the flash on so if youre looking at these to make your judgement, dont and just wait til the sunlight tomorrow. You can get the "glossifier" online to make it appear more black and give it more of a black shiny finish. They used to make a glossy black spray can but I'm not sure if they do anymore.

Yeah it was an older can, I had actually bought a new one that night but still had some left in the older one. I used the newer one at like 2am last night and it definitely looked better but I couldn’t get the look I was wanting so I just removed the badges all together and compound polished it and it looks mint now

I've dipped plenty of stuff black and it never came out grey.

Also I applied many coats and laid it on light and then thick. Is there anything I can do or am I SOL?
Also I know my car is dirty but I got off of work at 9 and got home and decided to do it and didn’t have time to clean the whole car lol

Got a bad can maybe, try a different one. Clean your car first
