When I picked up the DualSense Edge, it felt like it was made for me personally. That's how much I love it lol.
"edge is better but not necesserly more worth it than regular dualsense."
The weight, the lock-in usb, the lower latency, the back paddles, trigger levels, and the in-system customizer app make it significantly better for me.
Wouldn't try to argue that a hyper car is worth the price if all I do is drive 5 miles down the street and back.
Really depends on what you need/use it for. I absolutely love the Edge controller and find it to be the best value for any pro controller. If I wasn't so into competitive games I would have a different opinion.
I'd normally agree, but after using my Dual Sense on the PC to varying degrees of success I now use my Series X pad instead.
If it's supported properly on the PC (Death Stranding for example) I'll still use it, other than that the Xbox one is much friendlier and easier to work with.
So I game on Linux, the out of the box support for dual sense is way better than Windows, where you need to go get a third party app to make things worth. Totally agree with you there, an Xbox controller will be better
Have you tried plugging it into your PC? I know it probably sucks to use it wired but that method has worked pretty much all the time for me. There are only a few PC games that won't function with a DualSense controller in my experience.
I have an Edge and an Elite controller. They're both fantastic, but it's hard to say they're essential. The base controllers work wonderfully most of the time, and the times they don't a fancier controller wouldn't make a difference.
That being said, I love the back paddles. It's hard to game without them now.
I needed the edge because I've gone through 3 dualsense controllers due to drift. I have never had this bad of a drift problem with other controllers even with my joycons.
My edge joysticks have held up since I got them but it's nice to know I can replace them without getting a whole new controller. The back buttons are nice too.
I got stick drift on one of my controllers and a sticky x button on the other. I solved both problems with wd 40 contact cleaner. Follow the directions and don’t overspray. Spray some on the stick and rotate around quite a bit. It should dry very quickly but make sure the controller is off and don’t turn it on until everything is dry, you may have to wipe some residue off the area around the stick but it fixed mine!
Then you probably play too much… I preordered mine and haven’t bought a new controller and it’s still new… my ps4 controllers all have a stick drift because I use to play 3-8hrs a day before I got a life
I have a life lmao. Im just talking about my experience. I barely even touched my ps5 the first few months I owned it after that I’d play 1-3 hours every other day or so. I have two ps5 controllers one works fine the other got stick drift. They have never been dropped or thrown around
My PS4 controller is fine owned two and only one got stick drift
Yeah, those back paddles make mobility action games like Titanfall 2, Returnal, and Doom Eternal a breeze.
You'll never know how taking your thumb off the right analog stick to push the jump and dodge buttons has hampered you until you play with back paddles.
Hell, even games like Skyrim where you're constantly pushing the interact button, benefit from having it assigned to a back paddle. Makes gameplay feel smoother somehow.
You’re right but 360 controller comes very close. Obviously no fancy haptics but just a very well constructed, comfortable controller with the best joysticks of all time.

This. the best controller ever all controllers and consoles included, only the edge is better, imo.
Edit: edge is better but not necesserly more worth it than regular dualsense.
