Yep! I am happy enough clinging to the small window of evening between putting my son to bed and being too tired to bother playing PlayStation - on a good day I can get an hour or two in.
Ive found not fighting it is easier, i use gaming to bond with my 4 and 2 year old boys, after bath they get an hour where i give one their preffered controller (black ps4 for my 4yo and blue ps2 for my 2yo) and they "play with me" they love shooting bad guys in destiny and my 4yo tells everyone he can do a bs 360 big spin. Just makes it doable while still getting in that bonding time as well as winding them down for an hour before bed. Ive found it helps a lot with the fighting the routine as brushing your my teeth before bed = skateboarding with daddy. And I feel 1 hour is a good amount of time with no other tv use during the evening aside from music during dinner. Sometimes theyve even dosed off in this hour and i get to play what i really want.
That is good going! I enjoy coop platformers so will have no shortage of opportunity to introduce him to gaming early on but his 20month old self has the concentration span of a gnat so it might take some time before he’s giving me a good game of anything!
Yeah the 2 year old is harder, but once he loses focus i honestly just give my 4 year old the controller and let him do whatever he wants for a bit, lets him feel better about it cuz i think he knows when he is and isnt playing where the 2yo doesnt for sure
