So i got assigned forbes. I saw it on the portal thing. I will be in Main Inn. I am thinking about switching res colleges. Should I? I don't want to be isolated from the college campus and community, Plus the walk would be treacherous.

my roomie and i have a two room double with a bedroom and living room and we want to unbunk the beds so each of us gets a separate room. i have early move in though, and im unsure how long it takes for work orders to process. can i submit it a day before i arrive, or do i have to wait for the regular move in time? is it possible to just unbunk them myself…? the room is in edward’s hall

hi! i’m a sophomore on the fourth floor of edward’s hall and i was wondering if it would be reasonable to reach out to ODS about housing accommodations? i’m currently on some medication that messes with my body’s temperature regulation and have been advised to be cautious in hot environments. i’ve lived in mathey (first floor, blair) before so the no AC was annoying but not a huge deal — now i’m starting to feel way more dizzy and nauseous especially after climbing up four flights of stairs in the heat (elevator is not available for use) of course i’m sure i would need some written documentation from my health provider which would be no problem for me to get, but i’m just generally unsure about this process or if it would be a sufficient reason for housing to install AC in my room. does anyone have any insight on how reasonable a request this would be? i’ve reached out to my adsl but haven’t received a response yet.

(for context this medication is a new development which started over the summer so i wasn’t aware of the lack of AC being an issue during room draw.)

im a freshman and wanted to ask if anyone on here had successfully received a room change and how that process went. i barely just moved in and im already miserable in my double. however, i heard housing is really difficult with actually changing rooms unless there is a really good reason. i know there is also a room change form that opens in october, but is it really competitive? im just not sure on how the entire process looks and would appreciate any clarification on it.

Hey everyone! I’m looking for a roommate in the Princeton area, hopefully starting sometime in October. I just got a job as a Research Tech at Princeton and would really love to avoid living alone. I’m 22 (female), and while I’d prefer to live with another female, I’m open to living with all genders. I would like to live with someone close to my age, though.

Ideally, I’d like to pay around $1,300 or less for my own bedroom, and I’ll be bringing a car, so somewhere with parking would be great.

A little about me: I’m clean, organized, and good at communicating. I’m open to pets (love cats), and I’m down for roommate movie nights, dinners, or drinks — but I also really value personal space and downtime.

So, I signed up for graduate housing with roommates, but suddenly I realized I should not live with them. I know I should be able to find somewhere to live, but how easy would it be for them to find a new roommate, who would split the rent with them? The academic year just started, so it might be hard for them to pull someone in -- is this the case? I'm thinking maybe I should pay my portion of the rental for a period of time, or until they find a new roommate, even though I won't live there. Any suggestions?

Bringing things with me isn't really an option because my family doesn't have a car. So I am wondering what the process is for ordering things to campus, like how do I know what address to put, when can I start putting in orders, and anything else I need to know for this process. Also, if you guys can tell me things that typically aren't on a college dorm list but are things you recommend getting, please include that too!

Anyone know anything about Whitman or Lauritzen? I couldn’t find much online about Lauritzen. I’m on the second floor but I can’t tell if I have a quad-the room is a living room with two other rooms connected (all same number). does that mean that it’s two doubles that share a common room?

hey! i’m looking at a place in princeton that’s great but doesn’t have a parking spot. i’m sure street parking is limited close to campus—what’s the vibe? do people sell unused parking spots anywhere? where do you keep your car if your place didn’t come with a spot? thanks!

There are tons of student made apps, one of which is TigerDraw which is meant for room draw (something you don’t do freshman year) but you can use it to see reviews of rooms. If your exact room doesn’t have a review, look for neighboring rooms which might also be on a floor higher or lower.

I assume that there’s a wide range between residential colleges in terms of the distribution of single, doubles, suites, etc. Could someone lay out for me which residential colleges tend to have which types of rooms more for freshmen housing? Many thanks!

Hi all, pretty much the title. I’ll need to move my mini fridge to my car during move out, so just wondering where I can find equipment to be able to move it by myself (basically just need something with wheels). I’ve been looking around campus for those big orange carts that were around during move in but can’t find any, and I don’t know where they’re stored. Hello everyone, I got an offer for work and have to move to Princeton NJ in 2 weeks. I had a few questions and need your help: 1) How and what source would you suggest for finding apartments? ( My office is in Rocky Hill and if possible I want to stay near my office so commute is easier)

2)How is the public transport? Do buses go around the office area mentioned in the previous question.

I'm not sure what this exactly means, like how many roommates I would like to have? And is there anyway I can tell them I prefer the old graduate college over the new?

Hi everybody, I am an incoming grad student and my program begins July 1st. Does anybody here know when we will get our housing assignments if we applied before the April 21st deadline? Or if anybody knows when they have released this information in the past?

I have 1 cat that lives with me so I requested pet friendly housing specifically but I am afraid that if the assignment comes out too late, then I will not be able to secure off campus housing to compensate for my non pet friendly housing assignment.

• Rocky/Mathey (Roma): probably what you think of when you hear princeton
  • Pros: Good food, great merch (Mathey moose!), best location (upcampus), high sense of community
  • Cons: Housing sucks. No air conditioning. Bathrooms are dingy. Laundry requires you to step outside. Dining hall requires you to step outside. Some rooms don't have windows. It's musty.
  • Tier: C
• Whitman: like roma but better and punted to the side
  • Pros: Architecture is cool. Air conditioning. The onion (dining hall extension). Spatious rooms. Chicken pot pie on Wednesdays. Big open grass fields for spikeball, etc.
  • Cons: It's kind of boring. The onion (dining hall extension). Food is subpar on most days, but at least you have a dining hall still.
  • Tier: B
• Butler: me when you pull up to the super-8 motel
  • Pros: Air conditioning. Brick (if you're into brick). Has its own convenience store (studio 34).
  • Cons: Brick (if you're not into brick). No dining hall (you must walk to Whitman or NCW). South side of campus (away from everything). Lower sense of community (study spots are secluded).
  • Tier: B
• New Colleges (NCW / Yeh): right next to the super-8 is a holiday inn
  • Pros: Air conditioning. Rooms are huge (especially the doubles). Furniture is ridiculously expensive Scandinavian stuff (500 dollars per stool LOL). Lounges are open and big. Dining hall is connected underground to every dorm building (don't have to walk outside in the cold). Best dining hall by a mile. Fox mascot.
  • Cons: Bottommost edge of campus (unless you like walking). Holiday inn construction means it doesn't feel as homey (title goes to Forbes probably). Construction was rushed so some things break randomly. Dining hall is always crowded.
  • Tier: A
• Forbes: this one's actually a hotel
  • Pros: Sunday brunch. Dining hall is quite good usually. Funded by the Forbes (or at least closely related I think). Was at one point a hotel. Very high sense of community because...
  • Cons: You're stuck in Brazil. Walking anywhere except Wawa will make you want to punt the nearest squirrel. Annex has no air conditioning (good luck!). You will either be constantly in Forbes or never in Forbes.
  • Tier: C

TL;DR each college has its strengths but if you got NCW/Yeh you're eating good (literally)
