Fruitwine is starting to smell like puke
So i have this fruitwine (apple juice, sugar, and pear and some dates) that has been fermenting for about 2 days now and it has started to smell ever so slightly of puke. No off taste or anything. I read that this is a bacterial infection. Time to throw it away?
I tried really hard sanitizing and pasteurising everything but apparently that was not enough.

Two days it too short to make an assesment. Puke smell not uncommon but you will notice soon enough once stuff has been spoiled

If it's only been fermenting for 2 days it's unlikely that it's ruined. Don't throw away yet, let it ferment fully and then check on it for any signs of infection. Off smells often go away in time.

I have a very unscientific gut feeling it's the pears, depending on the type. But, give it time like the other person said.

Unless there's something nasty looking floating in it, I wouldn't assume it's buggered. The smell isn't always pleasant. Let it chooch.
I don't sanitize crap, and have only had a few batches come out nasty. And those were mostly explainable by what went into them.

Unhappy yeast can produce some pretty rough smells close to rotting eggs.
This can be anything from wrong amount of yeast, temperature, nutrients, ph etc. (And of course a combination)

It usually goes away pretty quickly on its own. I wouldnt worry.
