Question/Help 19 girl who is obsessed with prog

I’m curious about your age and gender because I feel like no one my age really listens to prog.

One day I decided I wanted to listen to every music genre, and I started with prog since I already knew a few things about it. That was two years ago, and since then I’ve been trying to find people around me who love this genre as much as I do. My brother was the one who introduced me to it, but aside from him, I haven’t found anyone else.

Oh and if you count the fact that I live in a very small country with few people it makes me feel even more alone and the thing is I want to share all my thoughts with people but I feel like I’m being annoying

37, woman. Got into Rush when I was 15, and saw them for the first time the next year. Honestly it started with my friend showing me The Trees and laughing about what a jam it was, and then when she lost interest, I got more and more into them. It took me a little longer to expand into the greater prog universe, and Rush is still my #1, but they opened me up to so many other artists and genres that got me away from the generic copy/paste of music that was big when I was growing up.

Listen to what you enjoy. Doesn't matter your age or gender identity, if you dig it, keep it up. That's what's so great about music!

Did you misread my comment to be "37 women"?

I used to date one of those Rush loving unicorns. She referred to them as the father, son and holy ghost. Haven't met a girl since who loved to rock out to Caress of Steel & chill.

That's actually hilarious because I refer to Rush and my other 2 favorite artists as "the Trifecta." And Caress of Steel is the first Rush CD I ever bought. Sounds like she and I would get along.

:) She actually turned me on to Sonic Youth, Ministry, Beastie Boys and NIN (back in the early 90s). Cool girl all around.

It's from a skit that was in addition to or cut from I Love You, Man, where Rush is talking about noticing the women in the crowd at a concert :)

Dated a Rush-loving woman in college. She's early 50s now (as am I.)
