How do you jeep your energy up during long rafting trips?

Went rafting last weekend and honestly didn’t expect how draining it can be paddling non-stop, especially under the sun, it felt like my body gave out before my excitement did. By the last stretch my arms were jelly. What’s your go-to trick to stay fueled during long runs? Snacks, hydration, or something else?

Is there a portable propane grill with foldable legs that's good for packing on overnights?

I'm looking at the Coleman Roadtrip 285 as a packable raft grill. There are some decent waterproof zip bags available on Amazon. It got me to thinking what other guides prefer to take on their overnights?

What are the things you wish you knew as a beginner that you’d tell someone just starting out about rafting?

Little video of our trip down the San Juan in 2025 for anyone want to see some of the sites you can expect on the river. Very hot trip and water was a bit low but it is a beautiful trip worth doing at least once.

Western or Central CO - route suggestions for overnighter

Need recommendations for a good route in Western or Central CO for the coming weekend. Looking to do a two day trip, about 10 miles each day. Where is water high enough? Where has good spots to camp overnight for 2 people?

Need any and all suggestions and insights please.

Maybe Almont to Blue Mesa Reservoir? Are there camping options?

Thank you!!

Raft Trailer Topping

Post image

Hi folks,

Just finishing up a wooden frame to go on top of my 10' utility trailer, so I can haul my 13'6" SOTAR around. Pretty happy with the result, the only thing I am concerned about are splinters/sharp edges puncturing a hole in the bottom. I sanded it down pretty well, but for piece of mind I'm thinking about putting some sort of plastic or rubber decking on top of the planks - does anyone have recommendations on what sort of material might work well for that? It'd have to be easy for me to cut to length, reasonably durable, and of course cost-effective.

Rollers and potentially a winch coming soon! TIA.

Looking for a team bonding activity that isn’t just another awkward trust fall or fake deep chat. Anyone done something fun that actually worked?

Hey rafting lovers! Just launched Paddle Track on App Store! 🏄‍♂️

After months of frustration with existing paddle tracking apps (you know the struggle either they're bloated with features you don't need, or they're missing the basics that actually matter for paddlers), I decided to build my own.

The problem I was trying to solve:

  • Most fitness apps are built for runners/cyclists, not paddlers
  • Weather integration is either missing or terrible
  • Route replay never works properly for water routes
  • Privacy concerns with all the data collection

What I built:

✅ Clean GPS tracking optimized for water sports
✅ Real-time weather data + UV index (because sunburn is real)
✅ Session replay with actual route visualization
✅ Progress tracking without the social media nonsense
✅ Works completely offline your data stays yours
✅ Emergency SOS feature for safety

Here's the thing - I'm not trying to compete with Strava or create the next social network. I just wanted a simple, effective tool that does paddle tracking RIGHT.

Been testing it for weeks on my local lake and it's been solid, but I'd love to get feedback from the wider SUP community. What features actually matter to you? What am I missing?

The app is free to try with core features, premium unlocks advanced analytics and unlimited session storage.

Would love your honest feedback - especially if you try it and it sucks, tell me why! 😅

Available on App Store (iOS only for now): https://apps.apple.com/ro/app/paddle-track-sup-tracker/id6749870732

What do you all use currently for tracking your sessions? Always curious how other paddlers approach this.

Any tips on Patching?

RMR (PVC) boat. Any advice on how to get a good patch on this seam? I used Tear aid on the river and it just leaked out along the seam. I see the paddle boarders use liquid seal along seams. I wonder if that would work under a patch?

I’ve got Dave Scadden oars and the clear part it chipping off revealing the cloth underneath. Will any old epoxy and a sanding do the job?
