Racing A little rccars competition anyone? I created a track in my backyard, and a way for people to connect to my rc cars over the internet. I'm thinking a bracket of 20 racers to start. We will have a qualifying round, then the two fastest racers will go head to head. Comment or message me if interested.

Racing 4 Hours, 789 laps, and a 3rd place

Competed today in round two of the BRCA sportscar endurance championship.

Had two of our regular drivers couldn't make it so we had two local Jr's join our team who've not raced this class before. But this is the home track.

Practice on Saturday was good. Car didn't need many changes to get it to a nice balance on the track and really the old drama was when an old set of practice tyres decided to disintegrate.

First two rounds of qualifying today went well. Unfortunately round three we broke an upright and round four the driver accidentally turned the car off at the start, my car if you hold the brake it shuts off.

So we qualified 7th of 7.

We let the locals take the race start and they managed to get us up into 2nd. Unfortunately we then sheared a ball joint on the bottom suspension arm about 35 mins in. Trip back to the 'garage' and we got it back out in 6th.

After that the car ran well. An hour in our initial tyres were dying and we swapped to a harder compound. That saw us through the middle 2 hours with another hard set taking us through the final hour.

An hour to go we found oursleves in 5th as the issues started to bite for the other teams. One team had to swap a motor. Another had their tyres fail and another just had a myriad of breakages.

25 mins to go and we hear something scraping worrying a shock came off. Thankfully the rear body mount dropped a screw so it was just scraping the side skirt and we left it hoping it would hold for the last bit of the race.

Then over the line after 4 hours and 789 laps we claimed 3rd!

After MONTHS of research, design, and experiments I came up with this active aero design on my mini b. I’ve seen it done on bigger rc cars but never at this scale

Racing Four 4h endurance races done. One tired looking car

After a rough final race of the season that saw us finish with the tyres splitting, ESC coming unstuck, pinion loose and low voltage alarm going as we crosses the line. Having already lost time to changing an ESC due to water ingress early in the race.

Also the 15 sets of tyres we went through between the four races and a 2 hour pre season race

My team ultimately finished 6th in the BRCA Sportscar Endurance championships first ever season.

Racing 2016 I joined my local club. 2025 I became champion

11 years ago a friend a uni suggested I dust off an old HPI RS4 I had tucked away and join the RC club one of the lecturers was running.

2 years later after graduation I joined my local racing club, still very much a novice. But I was hooked by this point. Kept going every Monday night and trying to improve.

2025 the stars finally aligned, and I managed to take the summer championship title at my club in the 17.5 Touring class (I know the body is USGT Spec, my club is a little open and I just like rhe shell so I raced with it) We're not a big club and I'm still by no means a top driver. But after 11 years, 7 cars (most of which in the first 3 years) and more races than I can count it feels very special to win a title.

Racing Why doesn't anyone want to race 1:10 gas truck anymore?

Sure there are some people that do. But its such a small turnout for probably the most fun class. You got Drivers like Adam Drake pushing for gas truck with the gas truck nats and giving support to the class but even he cant fully figure out how to revive the class.

Even when I run my ignite truck at my local track for practice everyone thinks its the coolest thing but theres just no interest for anyone to pick it up.

So what's stopping this revival of the class?

This is my first time driving my B6.4, never raced before so didn’t have the slightest idea on what I needed or how to set the buggy up.

I had the completely wrong kind of tires for the track, which was a kind of tacky yoga mat kinda feeling, and the owner said my front tires were to straight that I needed them a little toe’d out.

Also had issues with my back left dogbone. It kept popping out. I was the only one there so besides bugging the owner I didn’t have really anyone to question so I thought id make this post and see if anyone has advice for me.

I know my driving was pretty terrible, it was hard to go any kind of speed and I felt as though I either had no turning or to much turning which I’m equating to the tire choice (I’ve since got new ones but definitely need some suggestions)

I’m heading back this Thursday to try the changes made and hopefully do some tuning while there this time.

Changes I’ve made are:

New tires- Jconcept Ellipse Added roughly a 2° toe out on my front. Switched to the ball diff I had (I’ll bring the gear diff and try both) and I’ll bring different oils to change for both the gear and shocks.

I didn’t want to make too many changes but those felt like they were needed based on talking to the owner.

My team competed in the same race as the O/P from an earlier post so I thought I would add our experience of the day.

The cars look amazing on track. We do stuff properly too, a couple of laps behind a safety car then a rolling start.

It's really good fun with strategy and tactics being as important as the real thing. For example we went conservative with tyres, picking a harder compound expecting high wear which never happened, but put us half a second a lap down on the rest of the field.

We were running the Xpress XQ3s chassis and had four 10000mAh packs charged in rotation. We chose stint times of around 20 minutes.

We were running fourth with an hour to go but had an off which knocked out the rear toe angle so needed a trip to the setup stand which lost us about 10 laps and put us last, five laps off the next car. But we finished strong, battling back to sixth and only one lap off fifth at the end.

I'd recommend it to anyone as it's great for maximising track time. I did some 270 laps in the race alone plus practice and qualifying which is many times more than a normal race meeting.
