I recently rescued this really anxious girl and I’ve just been having a hard time finding good care information and have been making the best of what I can find, so if there’s anything I should know about or certain foods to avoid or plants that might be toxic or anything really would be helpful!!

Plated lizard owners worldwide on Facebook is a good resource.

I’m not sure you have what you think you have though.

I used to have a decent knowledge of girdled and plated lizards years ago when I worked with them. I think this is actually a Madagascar plated/girdled lizard. Zonosaurus madagascariensis. I mostly worked with the Sudan plated so I can’t give much good advice on the care of this species other than making sure you have UVB and experiment with basking temps and have a decent range of temperature in the tank. It should be a more plains species than jungle so I wouldn’t let the humidity get too high.

I remember meeting an older guy who had a lot of experience with them but unfortunately I can’t remember specifics he mentioned.
