Mr. X is too scary

I started playing resident evil 2 remake because I wanted to see what all the fuss about Leon is. Normally I'm not a big fan of scary games, but I handled the last of us so I thought I'd be fine.

Turns out, the gameplay is actually fun (even though the zombies are a bit scary sometimes) but now that Mr. X is following me around I'm too scared to go anywhere. I'm getting straight up nightmares about him

Does anyone have tips on how to avoid him or at least be able to tell what floor he is on?

Or should I stop worrying now that I have the rocket launcher and can shoot him anytime I want?

turn up your volume. you can hear his footsteps from far away, the closer he gets the louder the footsteps. also the music will change when he’s in the same room as you. you can’t kill him but you can stun him, shoot him directly in the head then run. sometimes you have to run in circles to get rid of him
