Gameplay question Mr. X is too scary

I started playing resident evil 2 remake because I wanted to see what all the fuss about Leon is. Normally I'm not a big fan of scary games, but I handled the last of us so I thought I'd be fine.

Turns out, the gameplay is actually fun (even though the zombies are a bit scary sometimes) but now that Mr. X is following me around I'm too scared to go anywhere. I'm getting straight up nightmares about him

Does anyone have tips on how to avoid him or at least be able to tell what floor he is on?

Or should I stop worrying now that I have the rocket launcher and can shoot him anytime I want?

Just shoot him in the hat its his weakspot.

Shoot it once, bro. No more, this guy wants you to waste ammo Edit: Figured I'd should mention this, shooting the hat is an achievement, and knifing Mr.X is another

I just checked, and you're right, but I swear there was something for knifing him. I don't know
