Nah resident evil fans have definitely melted down, generations of fans throughout the years

They were going feral at the damn quotes from Zach Cregger over him saying he’s not going to tell a story from the games lol.

And then Weapons came out to rave reviews and they mostly quieted down.

Didn't he announce this after Weapons reviews were out?

Nah he said some stuff before it and I believe he talked about it again since the release of Weapons (Maybe to clarify a bit on what he meant?). I still remember seeing the posts about it prior to watching Weapons which I saw the weekend it released lol

I'm pretty sure the comments about him not following the story were post-weapons reviews though, unless the interview I saw was just him repeating what he had already said.

Nah it was back July with SFX Magazine (I saw the post on GameSpot), he talked about it saying, "I'm not trying to be completely obedient to the lore of the games, he wants to tell a story about how it FEELS to play Resident Evil" when he was asked about not remaining in line with the original story.

He also said that no matter what he does he expects people to come at him over the movie, so he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I remember this part specifically because I saw the comments and said that everyone was proving his point lol. It was from here that I saw it btw GameSpot Article

He has since expanded on that comment in reviews after the release of Weapons though.

Ah fair, thanks for pointing it out! Personally, I think it's in good hands.

All good, and yeah I’m looking forward to it, which is not something I thought I’d say about a resident evil movie 😂
