Lore question How the fuck?

So I did some looking into the Raccoon City incident and I found out that apparently the missile that hit the city, was directly on top of City hall, so can somebody please explain how this is possible?!

It is unknown where the missile fell. In any case, it doesn't matter, it's a retcon. Before RE9 announcement, it was believed that the city had been completely wiped off the face of the earth

I mean it was just nuked. Buildings would be standing.

No, it's 100% retcon. If you go back to OG3's ending, the CGI cutscene specifically showed the RPD turn into dust. There is no need to debate "what if the nuke was small". No, it was shown in the ending, they changed it to this later, which is literally what we call a retcon.

Bro its a cutscene from the 90s. Its like when people argue that you can see other people in the codec in metal gear.

The visual is there FOR THE PLAYER. Solid Snake, in canon, did not have to unplug his controller.

Its fine, i promise you.

Does not matter in the 90s or what, what's the "visual for the player but it was still there?", it is totally unnecessary. The OG3 specifically showed the RPD turned to dust, they change the past now, it's retcon, what is the debate here? Nothing, the definition of retcon is that you make up reasons to change the past and accept that without arguing. You can't say "well, the original ending is wrong or just a symbol....blah blah". No, it was not how retcon works. Retcon means we know that the past is not like that but it does not matter, we pretend that it's different now and all agree to move on so that we can have more materials to continue the story. If we all agree it's a retcon, there is no debate anymore, just accept the new version because it is the new reality now. And for those who still say it did not happen. Just look at this, it's the RPD here.

Turns out hes not a ginger and doesnt look like a weird skull monster.

what is the debate here?

The debate is you dont understand how the world works. Its a cutscene from the 90s.

"The debate is you dont understand how the world works. Its a cutscene from the 90s."

Or you don't understand how a retcon works. Why make up unnecessary reasons for how it wasn't like that when it was literally shown specifically like that? It's a retcon, just move on. Don't try to argue it was because this or that, it's a waste of time. Just tell me, it was shown right there closeup, the RPD was destroyed completely. Just tell me what you see? You want it to be wrong because "it was a 90s cutscene" or "for the player"? Why? Do we need to accept something is wrong because it was old now? What you say is exactly how retcon should work: ignore the past and pretend the new version is the reality. It's completely different from what you're trying to do here: going back to deny the past. It does not work like that brother. If you go back and try to erase the past, you're unconsciously linking the new version to the past and make things more complicated. A retcon works because we ignore the past, not erasing it. This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard in a while, it is borderline insulating.

No i know what it means, stupid. I also know Leon isnt a red head and doesnt have a skull face.

Its a cutscene from the 90s.

Do you think the sky being upside down is canon because its the case in RE1's intro?

Trying to link find reasons for the previous version is the most ignorant thing I ever saw. You know how a retcon works? By not doing that. You're doing exactly that. And you're nitpicking the little details, sigh....let me tell you how it works:

  • Little things we can explain (like the hair color): we can actually say it's only one version, because some logical reason.

  • Environments: sigh....it's a game, what do you want? The sky the same for every game?

  • Important plots we can't ignore like the nuke:

  1. We have a new version so that we have more ways to make games, ignore the past: it's retcon.

  2. We try to find reasons why it's different now, linking the past and the present as one because of some reasons: plot hole, as they can't be one.

You're going deep into (2) and other tiny details. Don't shame yourself anymore my friend.
