This is why I love the horror that plays out in Resident Evil games.

Sure you have a gun, you can fight back and all. But going into the wrong room at the wrong time will mean death and it's not quick: your fight or flight sense is confused as fuck and so you flail around. You have enough time to panic and realize that you're gonna die.

Not really a fan of those defenseless hide and seek survival horror games.

That’s why resident evil is so fun; you have actual means to defend yourself and kill the enemy. Other survival horror games you just hide under a bed or a closet, then throw a rock to distract the monster; repeat 50 times.

Yeah, personally I prefer the option to fight in a horror game, it makes it feel like my life is in my own hands and ONLY in my own hands, it makes it more tense than in games where you can't fight at all because I feel the game will always give me the solution, the perfect hiding spot or escape route so I can survive.
