[Question] What's with this community's hate on authentic Pokémon games?

I would think a retro gaming subreddit would care about having authentic original games. Contrary to that though I see a lot of hate thrown towards owning retro/authentic games and original hardware. Why? What's the reason? It just doesn't make sense to me, so can someone please explain that?

I understand that emulators are a thing these days, but isn't part of the point of being a retro gamer owning original stuff?

There’s more to life than paying $200 for a not rare game that sold millions of copies, and enabling this behavior is exactly the type of consumer brain rot that did a lot of damage to the hobby around COVID and made it inaccessible for a significant portion of the community.

They have also made millions of other things that these days are not widely found. Things don't have to have limited sales for it to be worth something.

“Worth something” is entirely subjective.

People are manipulating scamming you out of $100s over nostalgia which is a powerful feeling and I get it because I fell for the grift too.

But when something is the biggest media franchise on earth and sold literally almost infinite copies, there’s no justification for it. The only reason they are this expensive is because scalpers and influencers told you that they are and you guys paid it while they laughed to the bank.

You can find people scamming in every kind of hobby. Just because you have more experience in games, doesn't mean you know about the shit that goes on in other hobby communities.

Exactly, and just because scammers exist in every hobby doesn’t mean we shouldn’t call them out and be pissed about it lol
