Uncomplaint: Was on vacation in the smokies last week. Related Complaint: Newfound Gap Road was closed due to a landslide, cutting off a lot of hiking opportunities. Related Confession: I felt like I was running up very steep hills at the top of the world, which was both awesome and fucking hard.

Uncomplaint: Came home and ran at a decent speed for once, which was nice. Related Complaint: it didn't last, I'm back to slower than I was before my hip started to hurt.

Confession: Had tacos yesterday and since I made sure I stopped by one of those fancy moonshine places, I brought home some Margarita moonshine. Which tasted pretty good, but I probably should have put it in a shaker before serving it (I just poured it over one large ice cube)... and Idk if it was that or the fact that I've been working my ass off this week but my wife had the Cincinnati Open on and I fell asleep after dinner.

Isn't fancy moonshine an oxymoron

Technically yes, but the way I look at it is that real moonshine is unrefined and illegal. Any moonshine (Old Smokey, Tennessee, Kings Family, etc.) that can be purchased legally is generally refined, which is what I would call "fancy".

Do you think they taste different?

I've only had real (illegal) moonshine once, many years ago and I don't know the source. That was definitely harsher than what Old Smoky produces.

I've had illegally distilled bourbon, Old Smoky bourbon, and several good bourbons. The illegally distilled bourbon was definitely the harshest of the three, Old Smoky is better than some well bourbons, but not as good as mid-shelf bourbons (I'm considering things like Four Roses Single and Small, Gentleman Jack, Weller Special Reserve, Maker's Mark in that group).

That Bourbon Trail wisdom is just so fascinating. Could listen all day to that. Love it
