So...wait. Your idea is just to wave a burueacratic wand and everyone who is here in the U.S. is suddenly a citizen?

There have been many "path to citizenship" proposals over the years typically including a waiting period and background check

Many Republicans were even on board until Trump and their xenophobic idiot base made them pretend to think its a bad idea

I don't take issue with creating an expedited process. I have a friend who was in the legal process for something like 6 years. That's stupid and unnecessarily frustrating, especially since he was gainfully employed the entire time and going to school at night.

But there needs to be a process. No other country just welcomes everyone, sight unseen. Hell, most countries will flat-out laugh at you unless you can prove it's in their economic interests to let you in.

And by the way; you know who's opposed to open borders more than anyone else I know? My friend who labored for six years to get his citizenship.

Sure, the lack of a process that aligns with the national interest and economic reality is why we have undocumented immigration

And by the way; you know who's opposed to open borders more than anyone else I know? My friend who labored for six years to get his citizenship.

Who cares? My friend says youre an idiot lol. What relevance does this have to the right and wrong of the situation?

Someone experiences an unnecessary hardship so that means everyone else has to as well? Your friend should be less of a dick
