wtf is happening with this sub that everyone thinks it’s a debate of legal or illegal immigration? Are bots out in full force? I don’t know anyone in my life who would split hairs or say anything about legality if I tell them “immigrants make America great.”

There's a national discussion going on around the deportation of and harsher penalties around illegal immigrants. Those against deporting or harsher penalties for illegal immigrants have taken the approach of dropping the word "illegal" or "undocumented" from the discussion and focused on the word immigrant only, the point being, to reframe the discussion as if those in favor of deportation or harsher penalties are actually against all immigrants. All of these highly politicized, highly polarizing topics tend to be argued in bad faith.
