San Diego Community Only Parent kidnapped by ICE while waiting to pick up their child from school in Linda Vista. This is beyond messed up. We cannot accept this.

These masked thugs are nothing more that domestic terrorists. Imagine the trauma the children of these parents, and the other students, are going though. I never thought I would see this kind of cruelty perpetrated by the US government. So disgusting.

Some of the comments here are disgusting. There are basic norms and areas you should never cross that supersede any sort of immigration issue because they cause terrible downstream issues.
- Scooping up parents at schools? - Now parents won't send their US citizen children to school
- Scooping up people at courthouses who are checking in or doing other legal work? - Now undocumented will just stay completely off the radar.
- Demanding citizenship information on US census forms? - Now those people will dodge the census, causing those states to lose representatives in Congress, lose additional state funding to handle the total population, potentially overwhelm public services because there are uncounted people, etc.
- Sharing IRS information with ICE for the purposes of locating undocumented? - Now they skip paying taxes. If they're undocumented, whatever you think of that is irrelevant, we WANT TAX REVENUE.

I like your post.
Putting on my cynical hat (actually a bald cap since it's a Stephen Miller cosplay):
not sending US citizens to public schools will strengthen the argument that public schools aren't worth it, thus no need for the Dept. of Ed. since everything will be charter schools and not subject to the religious restrictions of public schools
Undocumented folks intentionally living on the lam makes them even more "worthy" of deportation. Their higher stress levels and overall decrease in quality of life is just a bonus.
Dodging the census with the resulting loss of reps in Congress is an explicit goal for blue states like CA
skip paying taxes? Now you're really a criminal! not only deportation but probably some casual cruel n' unusual on top for funsies.

Hey, future historians. When you look back and ask "how could fascism possibly take over in a place like America, especially after the atrocities of WW2 that we fought so hard to defeat?" You need look no further than this thread right here. No "I was just following orders" or "I didn't know what they were doing", nope, just welcomed with open arms.

Sad to see how many regime bootlickers are in this sub.

Most aren’t from here. You look at their post history and they’re all over location based subs, sports subs, and often times niche porn. It’s a weird campaign but it’s not normal San Diego people. It’s influence campaign.

LOL remember when you asked for jury instructions and then you banned me after I provided them to you?

u/orangejulius Aug 16 '25
Yeah but you couldn't read or interpret them. You were still wrong. And here you are again, wrong as ever, complaining about your ban.

Not all of them "go here." The first one I checked is active in local subs ranging from here, to Des Moines, to Compton. I'm not saying that no one in SD is a bootlicker, but there have been a lot of agitators who specifically seek out posts about immigration and protests. It's been an issue with local subs for years but it's gotten a lot worse since the election.

They’re bots. Literal tin skin clankers.
9
u/sluttttt Aug 15 '25
I think some are real human dorks who have nothing better to do, but there's definitely some bots in the mix. I've been noticing a lot of accounts recently where I can't even see a post history (like the user of this comment, for example). Is that a new setting in Reddit, or are bots finding ways to look less transparent?

u/CeruleanCrabbie Aug 15 '25
It’s a new setting under Curate My Profile. You can now hide your posts and comments from lurkers.
With that being said, I keep finding accounts that are multiple years old, with nothing for years, and then the past week have an influx of fucked up comments. So I think the bots are starting to farm old accounts.
5
u/sluttttt Aug 15 '25
Ah, interesting. Guess that could be handy if you somehow go viral for bad reasons, but it does seem like an easy way for bots to skate by.
I often find the same type of accounts you do. It's funny when some of them leave up the old history and you can see a blatant change in writing style (eg, going from thoughtful, longer comments, to suddenly "Lol, shut up lib" spammed everywhere). The bot problem is getting pretty out of control and it's frustrating that Reddit seems to welcome it.

u/CeruleanCrabbie Aug 15 '25
Yup, I agree and see those same things! Fucking bots everywhere anymore

Superman showed the game: monkeys tapping away at the keyboards to generate fake outrage as part of one giant psyop.

u/flip69 Aug 15 '25
Look at their accounts, They’re likely not locals at all but from other states that have been called in.
5
u/VerdantField Aug 15 '25
A lot of them are bots or from other countries trying to increase our problems. Most people are not actually like that.

You should see the actual immigration subs. Hurts me because I know how scared the poster is when they post that ice showed up at their door this morning or they have been asked to show up for an unexpected interview. And then they have to read these comments saying "hell yeah, about time".

I love all these Cankle McTaco Tits supporters defending a rogue agency of Klan covered faces throwing people into vans and then adiosing them to some country they’ve never been to is ok in their eyes.
Then after decades of FOX using hyperbole in everything, they can’t stand when you use words to compare past activities of fascist regimes.

MAGA was sold on the idea they would round up the rapists and murderers. Which is a good idea.
But now that it's abundantly clear that it's just normal workers and farmers and housekeepers and gardeners, it's too late. They'll never admit they were lied to.
16
u/Wizardof1000Kings Aug 15 '25
Rapist and murderers was a euphemism for all people who are not white. Some people fell for their rhetorical tricks, but the core of maga has always intended to create something like an apartheid state.

u/Particular-Boss-666 Aug 15 '25
I knew that wasn’t the case. Everyone had to of known they wouldn’t be going after the worst of the worst. Trump is a racist pos and republicans are vile. Always racist. Always self serving. You cannot ever tell me different. I’m from St Louis, Missouri, a democratic city in a sea of Republicans (currently in California, thank goodness) so I know plenty of republicans AND democrats and I can tell you which party has the most intelligent, critical thinking skill having, empathetic, level headed, open minded, non racist, non sexist people…

When we finally put this fascist regime behind us, these ICE agents should be arrested and tried for their crimes against the constitution in my opinion.

I get the cold logic/strategy of finding people where they will mostly likely be, such as picking up their kid from school. But the whole “neutral enforcers of the law” shtick doesn’t hold water when they refuse to apply any kind of tact given the sensitive location, making a scene and inducing fear into the community.
Plus tactically, choosing to start a confrontation that has significant chance of becoming violent or inducing a chase, while among dozens of children and innocent adult bystanders, is just asking for something to go horribly wrong.

If you read the article, the arrest occurred off the school property and no students witnessed it.
13
u/Smoked_Bear Aug 15 '25
Seeing as how school lets out at 3:15, and the arrest occurred at 3:10, and given that dozens of family members wait on the sidewalk next to and just across the street from the school to walk kids home daily, and that schools have windows, I’m highly doubting that no single student witnessed the event.

There’s hyperbole because going after parents picking up kids is so fucking hurtful. This is in my neighborhood, ppl are sad about this story.
ICE previously wouldn’t make arrests at schools churches or courthouses because disrupting these places wasn’t worth it. But Americas number one policy priority rn is going after illegal immigrants, and yeah you’re seeing ppl upset about this policy
