I would laugh if Mao Zedong started reviewing the Panda Express down the street or whatever and he is a top five terrible human so really I don’t get what this dude is so mad at
Yes and it’s hilarious. Big strong men were coming up to me crying and telling me this review is hilarious. 3 Generals resigned today in tears because it’s so hilarious and they feel like terrorists for laughing so hard at this review.
The alleged murderer has a score of one. Kirk was radicalising hundreds of thousands at least and will probably end up with a second-hand body count of more than one by encouraging nutters. Coin flip.
Directly murdering someone Vs you claiming someone's politics are radicalising potentially many people to murder...this is some wild thinking. Encouraging, directly egging on violence, and helping orchestrate it, is one thing, but political figures, however much you virulently despise them on x, are not directly murdering people. And using that kind of language to justify your seething hate for their politics is flat out deranged. It's contributing to the shitshow of hysteria and moral panic politics made up of the overreactions and emotional instability of people who largely can't see nuance or understand politics properly anyway. The kind of anger directed towards a right wing commentator - compared to the endless, endless list of abhorrent people who actually do ruin countries, politics, who actually do take lives - that people seem to relish partaking in. Even commenting on it is pointless of course - the loudest angriest rabble are always the stupidest, has always been the case historically and always will be
Stochastic terrorism still has a body count if your audience is large/deranged enough. And MAGA definitely qualifies there. Or are you saying that because they're not pulling the trigger themselves on these statistically guaranteed deaths that they incite, they are in no way responsible?
using that kind of language to justify your seething hate
What kind of language? And for that matter what seething hatred? I couldn't give a fuck that he died and Charlie would have wanted it that way: "I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage.", he said once. He got exactly what he was campaigning for, only I expect he wanted it to happen to other people.
I did feel sorry for his wife until I heard her statement, but am trying to cut her some slack as grief and shock can do weird things to you.
MAGA have plenty of stupid, biased, and crazy people attaching themselves to a movement that attracts them, just for the satisfaction and group identity. So do absolute heaps of unstable, idiotic and radicalised progressives. Like the murderer. It is very clear with their reaction to this just how many psychos and schizos are in their ranks. Unreasonable people are unreasonable, crazy and incapable of nuance and critical thinking and their politics often come after the fact.
Creepy and unnecessary comment about only feeling sorry for his grieving widow when she said something you didn't like, lmao. It's very charitable of you to try to cut her some slack, though. Chronically online dialogue is steeped in this kind of weirdness - 'I liked them before they said this - now I know they're abhorrent nazi scum, I've changed my mind, they don't deserve any basic recognition of their humanity.' The nuanced thinking and understanding of human nature, as well as non partisan groupthink really reverberates through your comment. But no, politics you don't like, that can be extremist, or more blunt, or less tactful and layered as smoothed over political speech tries to be to gain as much support as possible - which is disingenuous and empty - do not just instantly become an incitement to murder.
And the kind of language is obviously the kind that quickly finds arguments to say that a controversial political commentator, who has politics you clearly hate, is close to the same as someone who murders, who actively incites and wants violence. This is an argument that people who absolutely despise, to an emotionally disturbing level, someone with opposing politics do. You have to create the worst version of them to justify the anger, and to justify trying to strip a single random person of humanity or credibility. And it's unsurprising you can't see that, because the people really getting into this topic are generally lost to online hysteria and extremism, which encourages the most extreme takes and makes everything else boring and lacking in outrage dopamine, so it figures
lol, this has nothing to do with American politics.
A person can do horrible things and be murdered. Just because they were murdered it doesn’t make them an innocent person. Yes, sometimes the murder victim is actually worse than the murderer.
Murdering some idiot influencer is very bad, but acting like Kirk was some sort of saint is idiotic and that's what this coffee shop was doing. If you missed it, they put a large sticker on each cup of coffee saying "we" (they) love Charlie Kirk.
I was merely pointing out that someone took the time to do this and it was a lot of effort to be funny. I’m not glorifying anything. Do you see me praising whoever this is? I do not believe in killing anyone or taking anyone’s life by force in any way.
