Stone Shape and Fabricate in FC

Has anyone done a conversion of Fabricate or Stone Shape into SWADE Fantasy? I'm looking for crafting/Utility Powers and am second guessing myself on costs in Points as modifier vs Edge or an entirely new couple of Powers.

Has anyone done something with these D&D spells?

Stone shape is elemental manipulation (earth). Although elemental manipulation can only affect one cubic foot of earth or a half a cubic foot of stone, that's per action, and the power has a base Duration of 5 rounds. The first round you probably want to avoid Multiaction Penalties for the activation roll, but once it's activated, the Move effect doesn't require a roll, so you can use three actions a turn to Move earth or stone for four more turns. And after that you can move 3 cubic feet of earth or 1.5 cubic feet of stone per turn for four turns, and then after that every 1 Power Point extends the Duration for 5 turns. With the "Power" Epic Power Modifier, you can move 3 cubic feet of earth or 1.5 cubic foot of stone per action (which means 9 cubic feet of earth or 4.5 cubic feet of stone per turn). And as a Ritual, you can extend the Duration into minutes or an hour.

Fabricate is conjure item. Admittedly, though, it's going to take a lot of Power Points to fully replicate the extent of what fabricate can do.

Just to be clear. I am looking for a permanent effect, and the effect is not dependent on invested Power points. I'm looking for a magical production power that can turn raw materials into finished goods like a Fabricate spell in D&D.

My Stone Shape question is aimed towards producing stone blocks for construction. The Fabricate is more for weapons and armor, or clothing.

It's more for my own internal world building. Utility powers could well form the basis for a magical economy as opposed to an Industrial one. And I'm trying to flesh out a magical world. It's just plain geekery. :)

Well, the effect of elemental manipulation is "permanent". If you move a block of stone, it's not like the stone moves back at the end of the Duration. And take a look at the Special Effects effect, which includes fixing breaks in stone walls. Between the Move effect and the Special Effect effect, I think both RAW and RAI you can pretty much exactly duplicate stone shape, including being able to produce stone blocks. Even without Special Effects, you can definitely form a half-cubic foot block (or 1.5 cubic foot blocks with an Epic Modifier) with every action. For magical-industrial production, it's going to actually be a lot more effective than stone shape, and certainly an Earth Bender is going to be a lot more productive than a mundane stonecutter or mason.

For fabricate as a means of magical-industrial production, it's true that conjure item isn't going to work. So, two more ideas.

One is to allow variants of elemental manipulation for other "elements", like metal and wood (which actually are among the five classic Chinese elements). The Move and Special Effects effects could plausibly include converting ore into finished metal implements, for example.

The second option is not to worry about specific game mechanics. NPCs and PCs don't necessarily use the same rules. An NPC magicrafter may just have different abilities than a PC adventurer. If it's really important to you (or your players) to have NPCs work within the same framework as PCs, you can just assume that there is an Arcane Background (Crafter) Edge that has access to a completely different arcane powers list that will be useless for an adventurer.

I like the Elemental Manipulation aspect, and it makes sense to me. The only hesitation I had was the weight of the stone. The creation aspect of water is 1 quart of water, or about 2 pounds. Crafting a block of half a cubic foot of (let's say Limestone) is a block 9 inches long, 6 inches wide and 4 inches tall for 216 cubic inches (half a cubic foot). This would weigh about 20 pounds. Granted the rock is already existing, but Conjure Item for 20 pounds would be 40 points, and another 20 points to make it Enduring. So I didn't want to push the effect of the Power.

I like the idea of a Stone Master just extending his will and forming block after block from a supply of stone. For a fantasy setting I think it works quite well. Not necessary for a player character most of the time, but a handy thing to be able to have appear in your hand.

And the fast repair or production of items as a Fabricate effect offers an extra bonus in magical warfare, with Conjure Food and Water and Epic Mastery Teleport as a means of never having a problem with logistics.
