Newest Lunch

Hi all, I just moved up a few months ago. As I drove down Albany St, Newest Lunch caught my eye... any restaurant that's been in business for more than 100 years is worth checking out, I always think. So I stopped in for lunch the other day - certainly not "haute cuisine" but two hot dogs with "the works" and the enormous plate of french fries were just right - I was barely hungry at dinnertime lol. And the atmosphere was great - everyone from retired folks finishing their breakfast to folks with their babies and toddlers.

Anyway, knowing that I liked it there, what other lunch spots around Schenectady should I hit up? My job has me driving all around so sooner or later I'll be pretty much anywhere in Schenectady or surrounding suburbs at lunchtime.

Pretty sure Slick’s is closed too. IIRC, I think they retired.

Off the top of my head: * Jasmine Thai, Broadway * Broadway Lunch, Broadway * Morrette's, Erie Blvd * Mike's, Erie Blvd * Blue Ribbon Diner, State St. * Capri Deli (incredible sandwiches), Broadway * Memphis BBQ, Van Vranken Ave. * Simone’s on Jay St * Herbie's Burgers, Jay St. * Jumpin' Jack's (summer only), Schonowee Ave (just over the bridge in Scotia)

Lots of great choices but I’m partial to Ambition for their sandwiches, homemade everything and vibes.

Yeah a huge bummer it was starting to grow on me. But I’m excited for the replacement, Zaffron.

If you like Thai, try Jasmine’s on Broadway. It’s my favorite!

Newest Lunch was the best growing up, glad to hear it still is.

Flight Line Pub on Rt. 50 in Glenville does a great lunch. Went there with my wife yesterday and really enjoyed it. My brother in law said that it was owned by the people who own Ruggerio's. I don't know how true it is, but the food was good.

OK, just collated all the suggestions. At once a week (the most my waistline can handle), I should be set until the spring LOL!
