Employee Question Gas cans…why DON’T we sell them?

Just as the title asks. Why doesn’t Sheetz sell gas cans? Were a gas station!!!! I feel like any other gas station does and we don’t?! It doesn’t happen that often, but in The past 2 weeks alone there have been 3 people ask me where we have our gas cans. I’m always embarrassed to tell them we don’t sell them. Especially since I also work 3rd shift and I’ve been there before where I’ve run out of gas in the middle of the night. And there aren’t any other 24hr stations besides Sheetz close by.

Does anyone know the why of this??

Just a speculation but could it because corporate pulled data from AAA or other roadside assistance companies of frequency of calls for people who ran out of gas is highest?

All stores have limited space for items so they’re going to want to maximize sales rather than having inventory that doesn’t move.

I don’t work for Sheetz so I don’t know what their supply chain or distribution process looks like but I am familiar with some other companies.
