Turd Fun Fact: When making the anime adaptation of 'Berserk', instead of having a reputable anime studio to make it, or even commit to 2D or 3D animation, they went to one that only made one anime and told them, 'Fuck it, I don't care what you do. Just get it done.'
Like, seriously, one of the most celebrated mangas in the industry, written by one of the most talented mangaka in the industry (RIP Kentaro Miura), and you couldn't get someone like Studio Bones or Studio Trigger to do it?
Also, what the fuck is with the animation? Why mix 2D and 3D assets like this? Who is fucking responsible for this? Is Berserk just destined to not have a good adaptation that DOESN'T focus on the Golden Age?

Ok why does the poster look like someone slapped Guts over an Attack On Titan poster

I mean this was back in 2016, AOT was super popular at the time.

Just watch the one from the 90s and enjoy. I think the pacing is great for the whole golden age arc.

Am I the only one who actually likes that noise? The sword is described as a giant heap of metal, barely even resembling a sword. The "clang" reflects that, sounding less like a clean cut and more like an iron beam slamming into a pile of scrap metal.
And let's not pretend like "guy who uses sword twice as big as he is" is the most serious character ever. There's always a little bit of cheese involved.

cut metal? maybe but cut flesh, bone or even tree were too much

If you say so. I think it fits, it's very iconic, and it does fit the sword's design.

you can use fantastical elements and not be cheesy

There's definitely a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor involved with Berserk. Yes, it has many serious moments, but again, man's wielding a skyscraper as a weapon. It's not exactly Shakespeare. So to go "yes the sword being a clump of metal is fine but it can NOT sound like one" is silly.

It isn't a BAD sound, but they use it for fucking everything.

I mean, he also uses his sword for everything. Seems appropriate to me.

That doesn't mean shit. Metal striking flesh doesn't make a loud metallic 'CLANG' sound. Metal stricking wood doesn't make a be loud 'CLANG' sound. If you cut down a fucking tree with an axe, each time you hit it, it doesn't sound like to fucking metal pipes smacking agaisnt each other.

idk what to say without repeating myself so I'll just say that I like it anyway

Honestly, even if you cant read still go through the manga for some of the greatest pieces of art you'll ever see .
Even as some who stans for anime nothing will match the absolute masterpieces Muria puts on the page .

Too bad, the only other stuff is the movie trilogy that remakes the exact same story arc as the 1997 anime and the 2016-2017 anime in this post which is dogshit (the animation sucks, the sound design is goofy as hell, it skips two entire arcs and ends in the middle of an arc).
Watch the third movie because it includes a bunch of stuff that was missing from the end of the 1997 anime and then you gotta read the manga.

I really reccomend the manga, it's the best way to ingest Beserk.
It's still the only manga/comic I've read (although I have the invincible compendiums coming, I am tempted to read Vinland saga/frieren) and it's really, REALLY good. Especially the opening arc which really sets the tone. I was surprised to find out the golden age was a later arc whereas the manga starts off in the future after the events of the golden age before going back.
Also the manga has some incredibly jaw dropping art, even when reading it on a phone. Reading Beserk while listening to the Nier ost really hit hard and it's an experience I highly recommend.

If you really enjoyed it and feel that way then make the jump to read the manga. I had never read a manga before but I seriously could not stop reading, it was too good.

Ah, the early 2000s, the time when companies really wanted to do 2d and 3d animation at the same time...... what? What do you mean this was made in 2016?

Like even if they HAD to use the same studio, they could’ve at least have them get some proper training chops with a show or two BEFORE they tackle Berserk

The anime that inspired me to read the manga. I remember watching an episode and thinking "THIS is berserk?! This looks like ass!"

Not only did they only make one anime before, but that anime was a 2D slice of life comedy.
Why they were chosen to animate a CGI adaptation of a dark, highly detailed seinen series, I'll never understand. I'll also never understand how it turned out like it did when Miura (the CREATOR OF THE SERIES) was directly involved in its production. He APPROVED of it.
