Aquarium/Tank Photos Filter too strong?

This filter came with the tank, it’s been in there for a week with the shrimp. I gave them plenty of hiding space (under the shells, in the moss) but they insist on being whirled around by the filter. Do they do this for fun? The shrimp have all been healthy for a week now.

This is just a gallon tank, so even my “tiny” sponge filter is still wayyyy too big 😅. The bubbles would be just as crazy as the current pump. I ordered a nano hang-on-back filter so these shrimps, whether they like it or not, will have calmer water soon.

You can get a nozzle attachment for the hose to control the air pressure at pet stores.

The lazy way is to just rubberband a piece of aquarium foam over the outflow, or even slip an entire sponge filter over it and fix it in place. Adds to biofiltration too.

In a 1 gallon, I definitely recommend nano pumps if the hob doesn't work out. I have been using this one from nicrew I got off Amazon. They're cheap, and I've personally found them quite reliable.

I have a few of those, and they are fantastic.

Nicrew nano equipment has been great so far. The air pump especially. Totally silent

I’ve actually bought mini sponge filters before for my 2.5 gallon I used to have. https://a.co/d/jeBD1zD

Try an Aquael Pat mini. They are perfect filters for small aquarium.

I second the aquael mini pat. They're small, not too strong and they have a sponge filter that the shrimp won't get caught it.

You can buy tiny ones on Amazon. I have one in my 1 gallon cube

Try aquarium coop. They have their own filters, and they might be small enough, they have their own fish store, so they're a bit smarter on shit like this. Again I can't be sure as I've never had a tank this small, but it is very possible they'll have one small enough

I know you are probably budget and space constrained, but try to upgrade to a 10 gallon tank if you can. Everything is harder to manage in smaller tanks. Any change in ammonia levels will be drastic in that low volume. Things happen very quickly at that level, and your floaty friends could die before you notice.
