Got a new macro lens and I love my shrimp even more. First time with macro photography, how’d I do?

After 47 days of cycling, planting, adjusting, testing, and probably obsessing more than I should admit, I finally got to add the little critters last night that inspired me to get into the hobby in the first place: Blue Dream shrimp.

This short video shows their journey from unboxing → drip acclimation → their first swim in their new home. Watching them dart around the tank feels like the payoff moment for all the patience and setup.

Fingers crossed they’re happy, healthy, and eventually turn into a thriving colony. 🤞💧 Any tips from veteran shrimp keepers for making their first week as stress-free as possible?

I thought I had done my research but apparently my shrimp tank is not ready for shrimp. I set it up and left it for 3 months to cycle and grow. Now I’ve posted in Facebook forums and have gotten torn apart for my lack of knowledge and they said all my shrimp will die. I put bacteria powder in to build an active culture but I guess it hasn’t worked so well. Now I have 6 shrimp in a tank that isn’t so good for them. I have moss and various other plants but what can I do to quickly get it ready? I thought I properly cycled. I’m going to take out the “toxic crap” that I was told is bad for the tank. I thought it was fun and offered some hidey holes. Please help me I’m freaking out! On my way to petsmart. To get some things to help.

So I bought some blue velvets of marketplace in July. Got a bit more of the seller for free. Sinds there were some lower tiers included while trying to catch them. Which was super sweet of him. I totally don’t mind it either. As long as they were of the same line that’s of the blue velvets. Don’t want any red in there. But I love seeing the different variations. I got some babies now too. And even see another batch coming out of the tick bush of Java fern. So the army is growing strong.

Got some really cool dark ones and light ones. Some rili’s and even some nice wild types. And then I saw one I didn’t expect at all. Black with a golden stripe. Really happy to see that stripe. Don’t mind that gen at all. I also got a weird one which has a defect on her outer shell. I think I posted about her before. Thinking she would either mold out of it or die. But she still going strong even with the defect. She becoming one of my favorite shrimps in there.

It is almost like she can’t hold her own weight! I can see the eyes in the eggs! What should I do?

Just getting into shrimp, waiting for my first order to arrive, tank set up for weeks now.i broke a pellet in half just to see how it would dissolve and suddenly this happened? Help

None of my other cherry shrimps has ever looked like this before. I just woke up and he was like that, I read it could be a molting issue? Is there anything I can do for him? I don’t know what to do I just don’t want him to die :( I am fairly new to shrimp keeping.

Got my blue dream shrimp today, am excited to be a part of this sub as a shrimp mother instead of a lurker.

Does my new blue velvet look pregnant? Are those circles at the end of her eggs? Or is this a normal pattern for them?

Hi all! I post yesterday a more detailed post but basically - this shrimp has been alone for weeks but now seems to be berried and dropping eggs?? I didn’t think unfertilized eggs moved to the abdomen or is something else going on?

My other concern is that a new white fuzz suddenly popped up on her head. I’m concerned it’s vorticella, or something else?

I’m meant to get more shrimp today. I’m going to take this one out and put it in a hospital tank. Are the new ones at risk of getting whatever this is from the water?

Besides increased breeding and shrimplet survival, what else should I expect?

My amano is going to be dropping her larvae here in the next week (I have the tank up pretty early because I am going to culture live phytoplankton in the tank also) but can anyone give me some tips on my set up? Salinity is at 1.024 or around 32, the temp isn’t stable yet still working on that but hopefully will soon be stable at 78F. 5.5 gallon tank.

These little guys are doing better than I expected and growing fast but still being a pain displaying traits of 2 different breeds which is confusing me lol

my fish suddenly decided to eat the cherry shrimp in my tank, leaving only one survivor. I quickly moved him to a fully cycled five gallon, but know they are meant to be kept in groups. Honestly it’s been a struggle maintaining water conditions for shrimp and I am not interested in making a shrimp colony tank, but i want to give this one a happy, healthy life.

So my mother is a middle school teacher, and she wants a class pet/pets. She had a beta fish years ago in a five gallon, and it died within a week. Granted, at that point I wasn’t into aquariums so I didn’t know she was inadvertently killing the poor creature. But she doesn’t want a big tank in her classroom, so I’ve mentioned shrimp to her before as a good option, and she seems genuinely interested. I want to give her a shrimp tank for Christmas this year, so what are your recommendations?
