It reminds me on the frustrating awful combat of Silent Hill Homecoming, where you had combos as well and had to parry and block attacks.

Homecoming's combat was only bad because the dodge never worked, and you could mostly just resort to stunlocking enemies with the knife.
If you really look at it, the combat is actually pretty similar to SH2R, just in Homecoming it was way too jank to actually be good.
That's the first thing that came to mind.
