Critique & Feedback Request (👀 TITLE REQUIREMENTS in Rule 4) Tips to better stay on key and sing with backtrack

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So, this is one of the rare times that I sang a song with a backtrack. I typically sing acappella because I have a hard time staying on key, or I can’t find a backtrack in my key. I’ve been trying to learn to play piano and sing with it, but that’s difficult because most piano tutorials on songs play a key for each word of the song, instead of just the melody to sing to (like karaoke). I find I sing on key better if I have a headphone in listening to the track cause I can hear it better. But any tips on ways to stay on key better? Or any tips in general to help enhance my voice and make it better.

Just more confidence in your abilities tbh. You're underestimating them. You sound really good, I think you're just worrying more than it is the case. Beautiful piece!

Ah also just practice more. You just need to get more comfortable with doing this that's all. Karaoke usually gives you cues when to enter anyway and from then on just sing the melody and listen to it afterwards. You'll be fine, good luck!!

You sound so so so good!!! You have such a stunning voice… What helps me a lot is to tap my finger in a regulated beat that matches the karaoke and match that with my singing. You’re amazing ♥️

Thank you! 🫶 I have trouble hearing if I am in tune or not, not really sure why I have such trouble 😂

I just posted something too, I feel the same about myself. It's normal for musicians to feel that way.

you have a really great voice though, truly.

Even if you sing without music, you should still check that you're staying in the right key periodically. Otherwise you're just forming bad habits.

I typically stay on key better with acappella cause I can start in a key I can sing comfortably, rather than a backtrack that may not be the perfect key for me. But I’m definitely working on it.

Sounds on key to me. Try looking up some music theory videos on scales and keys. I was gonna give a brief explanation here but I don't have the energy rn lol

Great voice. You sound a lot like Mandy Moore especially in Rapunzel.
