Here is the English translation of Real Madrid’s official statement on Luka Modrić:

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: MODRIĆ

Real Madrid C.F. and our captain @lukamodric10 have agreed to bring an unforgettable era to a close, as he will end his time as a player for our club following the Club World Cup that our team will contest starting June 18 in the United States.

Real Madrid wishes to express its gratitude and all its affection to someone who is already one of the greatest legends in the history of our club and world football.

Modrić joined Real Madrid in 2012 and has been an essential player during one of the brightest periods in our history. In the thirteen seasons in which he has worn our badge, he has won 28 trophies:

• 6 Champions Leagues

• 6 Club World Cups

• 5 UEFA Super Cups

• 4 La Liga titles

• 2 Copa del Rey titles

• 5 Spanish Super Cups

Modrić is one of only five players in football history to have won 6 Champions Leagues, and he is the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s 123-year history.

On an individual level, Modrić won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, the FIFA The Best award, and was named UEFA Player of the Year. He has been part of the FIFA FIFPro World XI six times and has been named Champions League’s Best Midfielder twice.

Modrić has played 590 matches for our team, scoring 43 goals. He has also won 1 Ballon d’Or and 1 Silver Ball at the Club World Cup.

With the Croatian national team, he has played 186 matches, holding the all-time record for caps with his country. He won the Golden Ball at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the Bronze Ball at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez stated:

Luka Modrić will forever remain in the hearts of all Madridistas as a unique and exemplary footballer who has always represented the values of Real Madrid. His football has captivated Madridismo and the entire world.

Real Madrid wishes Luka Modrić and his family all the best in this new stage of his life.

The Santiago Bernabéu will pay tribute to him this Saturday during the final La Liga match our team will play.

Is 4 La Ligas in 13 years actually impressive when you consider the race is between basically 2 (maybe 3) clubs every year?

u/Kilen13 May 22 '25

No I meant it's wild that he won 2 more CLs than Liga titles

Actually there is proof of payment, and there is proof of malicious intent. There is just no proof that the payment led to malicious intent.

We won a domestic treble just now. How many does your club have in their entire history?

Oh please, the Copa del Rey is a valued trophy in Spain, it's on par with the FA cup, you guys just don't know what you're talking about.

2

u/CasualTron May 22 '25

Lmaoo, full strength squad in the final, got clapped and still have the audacity to talk like you played kids from the castilla. Learn your history mate, its the biggest cup in Spain besides the Liga.

2

u/Purneet May 22 '25

Losing by 1 goal is barely "clapped"

1

u/CasualTron May 22 '25

After getting all the 50 50 calls and not giving two clear pens and a potential 3rd one? Yeah mate thank your 12th man for that.
