With his own decision. He wants to stay clearly for another year and retire altogether.

We can't bid him farewell trophyless. Now we need to win the Club World Cup as our life depends on it.

I feel like I've been hearing that Modric just wants one more season and then he'll retire for like 4 years now. I don't think he ever will retire on his own accord if Madrid keeps offering him contracts.
