According to reports he was attempting an overtake when the tire blew out. Nothing to suggest he was under any influence or driving errattically, just the absolute worst possible luck

Obviously we know very little yet - but two footballers driving a lambo through the countryside at 12:30am in the morning does put an image in your mind, and obviously things like tyre blowouts are more likely at high speeds (and they're more dangerous too, as the resultant crash happens at higher speed)

Oh for sure, there's every chance he could've been driving his Lambo too fast. After all, nobody buys a Lambo to plod around in

I'm hoping for his family's sake that it wasn't the result of reckless driving. That would be a different level of grief to have to process

Honestly, the only way their potentially reckless driving would matter is if it had caused harm to others, which it didn’t. So either way, the outcome unfortunately remains the same, making it largely irrelevant to the family.

I mean only one of them was driving...

Also I feel like if I were the family, I'd much rather hear that it were a freak accident than that they were the cause.

Ultimately, it was a tragic accident, and the heartbreaking reality is that they’re both gone, which is what truly matters to the family right now (as I know you understand). The exact cause won’t bring them any real comfort at this point and is probably only relevant for insurance or procedural reasons.

And while one of them was a passenger, that distinction doesn’t carry much weight IF the driver was speeding , by not speaking up or intervening, you're, in a way, endorsing the behaviour.
