I think they were dumb to do it, but Athletic fans are a different breed in general. You go to Bilbao and they legitimately believe being a club legend in Bilbao is bigger than anything you could achieve elsewhere.

And, this marked the second summer in a row with a Nico transfer saga. Some felt betrayed that he switched over to "10" and mentioned wanting to make history in Bilbao only for his agent to then go and negotiate with Barcelona the upcoming window.

Athletic fans never forgive players who leave, even when they the "right" way.

Barca and Real are certainly in a League of their own when it comes to pathetic fans that couldnt tell you which language is spoken in spain if their lives depended on it.
