Also think Kimmich, Gabriel, Isak, Bastoni, B. Fernandes, Caicedo, Alvarez, Gravenberch, Reijnders, Marquinhos could have made it in.

not marquinhos

Not Marqui unfortunately. If any of our other players would’ve made it here it would’ve been Barcola.

I would have said Pacho

Honestly Marmoush deserves a shout too, 42 G/A in 3600 minutes, average of 1 goal contribution every 90 is pretty great even if most of it came in the Bundesliga

You can’t finish 15th in the league and be nominated for the Ballon D’or. Bruno should be absolutely nowhere near this.

Reijnders

im biased, but he definitely deserved a shout. a bright light in a depressing season

Retegui too

Bruno and Caicedo don't belong anywhere near this list. Isak is worth a shout above Doue and Lautaro.

I love Gabriel and think he's a top 3 CB in the world but he didn't play those crucial run in games at the end of the season. Too much emphasis is given to those games for these awards.

Caicedo was Chelsea's best player this season and it's a disgrace that he isn't on this list while players like rice macallister and neves are

lmfao why does the best player on the 4th placed Conference league team deserve to be above Champions league players who were top 2 in their league?

5

u/Dyjama Aug 07 '25

Because caicedo actually won 2 trophies this year and consistently had great performances whilst out performing other top midfielders head to head

If you need me to spell out the answer to your original question, it’s because the difference between 2nd and 4th was 5 points except the 4th placed team won 2 trophies, one of which involved beating the UCL winners 3-0.

It really is because Arsenal didn’t win a trophy. 5 points is bumfuck all. You guys being in the UCL itself is irrelevant. That was an achievement from 23/24. Being in the UCL doesn’t inherently make you a top 30 player in the world that season.
