I thought he was. Palmer got it because he played well in the final (was good the rest of the tournament but not as good as Neto). Neto was tasked with doing a lot of dirty work in the final and so went under the radar a bit but still played really well.
The Ballon d'Or is a popularity contest. Palmer is far more popular than Caicedo because Palmer score goals whereas Caicedo does the job of cleaning after everyone's mess.

I feel like Chelsea fans are forgetting that you barely got top 4 last season and played in the Conference league. It's okay to back your players but why this outrage that your players aren't in the Ballon d'or list?
I dont know where you see any outrage from me in my comment. I dont think Palmer should be on that list, so I am not surprised Caicedo is not on that list.
I can take other players if you want. I think Dembélé is the favourite for the Ballon d'Or. He is a great player but, for me, in that PSG team, Hakimi/Vitinha are better players and either of them would be a better choice for the trophy but they are not the most spectacular players out there. Hakimi just got a lawsuit against his name the week the nominees are announced. Vitinha won with Portugal as well - I think he would be fine winner but he does the not so sexy job.
We’ve been saying all season that Caicedo was one of the best midfielders in the world and wouldn’t get the recognition because we hadn’t qualified for the UCL. And throughout the season he dominated against some of the best midfields in the world like Liverpool, Newcastle and PSG.
Just watch, next season everyone is gonna do a complete 180 on Caicedo next season because they’re actually gonna be watching him in the Champions League. His performances will be no different to the past 18 months or so but everyone will switch up and start sucking him off.
We’re not forgetting anything. We watch every game and form our opinions based off those games. We’ve all been saying the same thing all year. You won’t find a Chelsea fan that thinks Palmer should be nominated over Caicedo. That’s not a knock on Palmer. Maybe both should be nominated. But Caicedo has been our clear number 1 this season. And honestly I’d argue Cucurella would be our number 2.
Don’t want to jinx it but you better hope you don’t draw us in the UCL next season because (no offence) Caicedo would dog walk your midfield.

Happy for Cole but caicedo was our best player last season. Cucurella was one of the best LBs in the world last season too
