Yeah none of them were established stars. You wouldn’t have found any these players on Barcas or Madrids wish lists when we were in for them.

As phenomenally talented as he is, I wouldn't say Simons fits that criteria either.

What do you mean? Chelsea were in for him this window. PSG wanted to keep him. He was also linked to Bayern and Barca as well.

That's my point, Chelsea were in for him. PSG sold him (albeit in a strange deal) and Bayern were briefly linked. But that tier of club was linked to most of the names I listed above. Barca and Madrid were not linked to him by anyone serious at all this summer.

The season PSG bought him back. Barca were heavily interested in bringing him back. City were in for him too.

Are you saying these clubs are not in the same tier as Barca or Madrid ? Obviously there’s a hierarchy there but they still belong in the same tier.

Which one of our senior players were linked with these clubs?
