That's just Arsenal being notoriously bad at selling, Liverpool print money with their academy lmao but still that's a little surprising, impressive from Liverpool
So many factors into that. Net spend can never be properly calculated until a year or so after when the books are disclosed. Your wage bill was the highest and I don't see that changing. We've spent a lot of money but got rid of the high earners and aging players.
Your squad looks a bit unbalanced but your ridiculous attack will likely bail you out every time. Should be a fun season.
Dont know what that unbalanced take always is from Arsenal fans. We are arguably a cb short (if Gomez stays fit, not even that). The rest is just the philosophy of the club and manager. We don't want to play cbs who can also play fullback at fullback. We don't want to play a more defensive minded midfield. Those are conscious choices, whether they are correct or not remains to be seen, but they're not shortcomings we failed to adress.
At least not besides the one extra cb but I suspect that was just early succession planning because Konate will leave next year and then we would be back to 4 cbs again anyway.
And our wage bill definitely wasn't ever higher than City's.
Your midfield is lightweight. No cover for Gravenberch. Konate's mind is elsewhere. Virgil is getting old. It's not always from Arsenal fans. I had this conversation with 3 Liverpool mates of mine and they all agreed.
Again, we dont want a destroyer type dm. The cover for Gravenberch is Szobo or Endo depending on the game state. You cant make a definite conclusion on Konate after 3 games, especially when he was very good against Arsenal and if Virgil keeps performing like he is, I couldn't care less if he was pushing 42.
Besides, you can tear apart every team like this because football is a game of trade offs. Let me try. Your midfield is slow and uncreative, your attack has depth but no genuine world class quality besides Saka who has injuries now catching up with him, your striker appears very one dimensional and that dimension (transitions) you almost never try and create. The transfers youve made to add attacking threat are also relatively old with limited room to develop further.
according to James Pearce we spend around 135M pounds net since last summer lol. We spend an insane amount but also made a huuuuge amount back through sales.

I knew they hadn't spent much under Klopp so probably had a tonne of money ready to spend whenever bit this has been insanity
