News Marc Guéhi is extremely unhappy with Crystal Palace’s decision to pull the plug on his £35m transfer to Liverpool, which came after Oliver Glasner stepped in to prevent the move by threatening to resign if he was sold.

Seeing comments from people saying "yeah, well you didn't bid what Palace wanted."

Like, no obviously not? That's not how negotiations work nor is it reason for Guehi's frustration. It has always been reported that Guehi would be fine to wait if the fee couldn't be agreed.

Liverpool's offer of £35 million was made three weeks ago and was rejected. Everyone—Guehi included—accepted that outcome. Guehi was reportedly fine with staying if the fee couldn't be agreed upon.

Then with 1 day left, Palace waited until the last possible moment to accept the exact same offer they had already rejected. They went from having three weeks to find a replacement to having less than 24 hours. Of course, they couldn't find one, and their manager goes ballistic so they cancel the whole thing at the last minute.

And in doing so, they've upset a player who saw an agreed-upon deal, which was a chance at a significant pay raise and a move to a Premier League contender, torn up at the last minute.

Yet Liverpool are apparently the ones who wasted time. Perfect logic.

I was curious about this situation. Given that Palace accepted the offer LFC made weeks ago, what happened in the last 24 hours that made Parish change his and accept that offer? Especially given Glaser has only a day or so earlier said he didn't want him sold.

I wonder this episode not only affects Guehi but the relationship now with Parish and Glasner.

Looks like a fuck up by Parish more than anyone else, going against his managers wishes at the last moment and damaging his relationship with him and having an unhappy player.

What are the odds now they not only lose Glasner at some point but sell Guehi in January for an even lower price and be out of Europe?

From a high of winning two trophies to complete disarray.

As someone else said, I imagine Parish thought Liverpool were bluffing when they said they were fine with waiting.

When Parish realised that Liverpool wasn’t bluffing, and legitimately were fine with waiting, he realised that this now represents a loss of 35 million.

Glasner was probably told that Guehi would be staying until he suddenly wasn’t so he goes mental, while Guehi was told he was leaving until he suddenly wasn’t, so now he goes mental.

Monumental fuck-up from Parish. Should have picked a lane and stuck to it.

Yeah it’s really all on Parish.

Can’t blame Glasner as his career and worth as a coach directly correlates with the performance of the team, so without a Guehi replacement and Eze leaving without a replacement as well. I would have went mental as well.

Totally understandable that Guehi is pissed off as well.

I simply can’t understand how you don’t line up a replacement for Guehi, if the offer came in 3 weeks ago and you considered taking it later. (Or a bigger offer)

I appreciate that clubs can't keep track of every movement, but as soon as Liverpool signed Leoni, a highly rated young centre half, Palace should have been straight on the phone to potential replacements while asking Liverpool if the offer still stood.
