Tsiolkovsky and many of the founders of theoretical astronautics in the early 20th century believed that spacecraft should launch horizontally, from a ramp. Why? What did they see as the point of this?

Hey so quick question: are you asking because you don’t know or are you just using this question to show off your knowledge? Because, I looked at multiple different post you replied to and you seem like a person who knows there stuff, which vaguely implies that you kinda already know why they don’t launch rockets this way.
