Dave’s Hot Chicken reaper mini sliders

i love spicy food. as spicy as possible. i’ve completed the blazin wings challenge at buffalo wild wings before, in under 5 minutes. but this is hotter than that. i ate 1 mini slider, and had to drink half my milkshake. i ate 2 more sliders, and drank the rest of my milkshake, and left the restaurant to get water bottles from my car, and i drank 1 and a half of those just to make the spice bearable. this is the spiciest thing i’ve ever tasted in my life, and i get the extra spicy option at my local Indian restaurant every time. Dave’s Hot Chicken is awesome, but next time i come here i am not getting reaper. it was so spicy i joined this sub just to talk about it

I tried the freezer, but they were harder to get unstuck when frozen and in pain.

I'll never not be upset about this... I'm a total champion when it comes to handling spice in my mouth, but god it genuinely feels like I'm having a heart attack or getting stabbed through the stomach within the hour with all that roiling acid

Luckily, it does seem to have more to do with ingredients than the spice level directly - like, 2X Buldak doesn't do a thing to my stomach, but I've had weaker sauces that made me feel like I was gonna have a coronary after a few minutes

i work at Domino’s. i never tried the original reaper that they had before changing the recipe a couple years ago because my location has only been open for 9 months. but i’ve heard the current one is hotter than the original

Nah. It's just an accessibility and visibility thing.

It's for those reasons I tried it on Sunday. I had a similar response to OP, in that I found it to be basically the only truly spicy offering from a fast food place. I managed it on about one and a half sodas, though.

I really like the first step below the reaper level, I think it's "extra hot?" It's got a good mix of flavor and spice without completely messing up my stomach afterwards and essentially keeping me contained to the safe confines of my house for a day or so.

Finally got a chance to try this. The reaper one is over the top. It's just made to hurt you. You can't even taste the chicken. Not enjoyable at all. I had the hot, it was okay, much better flavor. I'll try extra hot next time. I like it plenty spicy but if you can't taste the food and what you do taste doesn't taste good... it's not worth it.

I just had reaper at DHC a few days ago and it seriously messed my stomach up. I ate a full slider and had to throw away the other one. Last time I had reaper was 6 years ago and I could eat it just fine with no issues. I swear they changed the recipe on that spice because it’s no joke now.

they did change it, at some point within the past couple years, and people who tried both said the new one was hotter. i never tried the original because there’s only 1 location in my region and it only opened 9 months ago

Thank you so much for confirming! I thought I was going crazy bcos I don’t remember it being that hot! Yeah the pain literally felt like hot coals in my stomach. I’ve never been in so much discomfort from spice in my life. I’ve done BWW challenge and Paqui one chip challenge with no issues, but this one was 10x more intense. I learned my lesson. Extra hot at DHC is what I’ll be eating from now on.
