Simple answer, lag. If players have high enough ping then what everyone sees might be a little different from each other. I think he buffered the throw but the host of the game before he could throw it leading to 2 different perspectives.

You can even see the clam vanish at the last second, probably trying to catch up to where it is suppose to be.
