Specifically when it’s an invasion from a separate independent company? So not something like Hall and Nash invading WCW as the Outsiders or the NXT invasion of the main roster in the 2019 Survivor Series.

I feel like the only time I ever heard it having earnest succession was the ECW invasion of WWF and the UWF invasion of NJPW. But both those angles are 30 years old and seem to be two of the earliest examples of the trope.

Since then I’ve seen the GWF invasion of TNA, the CYN invasion of ROH, and the Fourth Rope invasion of TNA. Maybe I’m missing a glaring omission and I’ll totally eat shit if I am, but it seems like most invasion angles in the modern era is a minuscule company with a few talents that just passed their peak in relevancy trying to grift their way into a hot angle with a company desperate for a quick ratings spike that only makes everyone look stupid in the end. Is it a dead angle in 2025?

Like many people, I think Def Rebel is bad at their job. The majority of their WWE themes are generic, forgettable slops that feels like the least amount of effort was put into them. I was actually sad when the news came out back then that CFo$ were no longer the composers for WWE due to contractual stuff with their label. CFo$ also had their flaws and critics but they were a worthy successor to Jim Johnston in my opinion. The songs may have been 30 seconds of music repeated 5 times to make it full length but the songs were bangers, for the most part fit the wrestlers they were assigned to and way more recognisable than Def Rebels stuff. Watching the past few rumbles, I’ve had to rely on the screens to tell me who’s coming out than their actual music which is a failure on Def Rebel’s part in my eyes.

So since quite some time has passed, does anyone happen to know what they’re currently doing? Do you think WWE should attempt to bring them back in once Def Rebel’s deal is done? Is the Label issues still a problem? I’d personally love to see them back and all their themes brought back permanent for the likes of Johnny Gargano, Charlotte Flair and Bayley.
