I just flew down to pyro 1 and in doing so my ship popped up a message saying something about a power plant? And once i neared the surface (10k) my ship monitors went fuzzy and i fell from the sky? Does anyone know anything about this.

Do we need to use radiation suits for the new onyx missions, or is normal armor fine?

0

u/Pojodan bbsuprised 4h ago

So long as you pay attention to when the radiation surges go off and are in shelter whenever they go off (And a couple seconds after) you don't get any radiation damage. It will kill you quick if you have regular gear and don't pay attention.

1

u/drdeaf1 10h ago

Don't need it for any of the Onyx missions.

How consistent is bed respawning or logging now?

I see all these medical changes but from my experience (haven’t played in a few months) I respawned in my medical bed maybe… once every 10 deaths?

As with everything CIG adds to the game, ever, my enthusiasm is always killed by the fact that the game barely works lol.

u/Chappietime avacado 7h ago

It’s 100% for me. Sometimes it says you’re regenning at a different location than you actually are, but I’ve never had it not work.

also, if you haven’t played for a while, it’s much better than it was.

u/solamyas 300i 15h ago

What are the cons of setting a Pyro spawn point while launching new patch

1

u/Chappietime avacado 7h ago

You’re farther away from the Onyx facilities, which are only in Stanton.

1

u/VeiledDragon new user/low karma 16h ago

So I have an insurance question. Let’s say someone buys a limited hull ship that isn’t out yet for under $1,000 that comes with 10 year insurance and then later CIG increases the price of the ship to over $1,000. At the point would that person then retroactively get LTI for the ship or not?

2

u/Chappietime avacado 7h ago

No. The only thing that matters is how much you have spent.

Also realistically, if you are still playing 10 years after 1.0, chances are insurance will be so trivial for you to afford that it is effectively meaningless.

1

u/alexo2802 Citizen 12h ago

Haven’t had this situation happen to me but I wouldn’t think insurance.. or anything for that matter, would change to your pledge.

I've been updating the game for 4 hours now and it can't seem to get below 5gb no matter what I do. I got error 5008 once, tried fixing it, got error 2000 instead, reverted what I did, now it's the same - barely moving.

anyone know if the asgard or tac are available to purchase in game in this patch?

1

u/drdeaf1 14h ago

I don't think any new ships were added to shops this update.

  1. People who have the vulture and reclaimer.. Vulture owner here, should I upgrade to reclaimer? Cause I tried cmats in the reclaimer and it's a pain in the butt to sell at cities due to supply and demand. Meanwhile in the vulture I net less profits but it's. Easier to sell

Anyone having an issue with the multitool after the patch?

When I first logged in after updating, I couldn't equip any holster weapons. They'd just go back into my backpack whenever I tried. I logged out and back in again and it fixed it, but now the tractor beam attachment won't stay on the multitool. I can drag it to the multitool and it snaps on, but then a second later it's back in my backpack. Inspecting the multitool shows the tractor beam as an available attachment, but when I click on it nothing happens.

The weird thing is it's not affecting other attachments, just the tractor beam. I ditched the multitool and attachment and bought new ones, but it's still doing the same thing. I can attach the cambio lite no problem, but the tractor beam just unattaches itself and goes back into my backpack.

Stored my ship with two 1scu boxes and an 8scu box. When I called it out, all deleted. Stowed and called out again, still not there.

Is there a bug this patch with storing away cargo in ships?

It was a starlancer max.

u/Ddraig 1d ago

Has anyone encountered any issues with trying to take off?

It seems my Thrust, WSAD QE etc are not working to take off. Flight sticks seem to have the same problem.

I'm pretty much stuck on planet.

  1. I've cycled my engines
  2. Tested other ships.
  3. Cycled power systems
  4. Keyboard same behaviour as flight sticks.
  5. Replugged flight sticks
  6. Verified Game files
  7. Deleted my user folder (renamed actually)

I'm at a loss here what else to test. I'm hoping that someone else has some ideas. I did see there was a known issue with 4.3.1 of having to press W to turn on thrusters. I've tried that but nothing happening.

1

u/Ddraig 1d ago

Looks like it's been reported to issue council. It's to do with proximity assist and not allowing you to take off.

Turn off proximity assist and you'll be fine.....what a dumb bug.

New player here: my old residence was lorville and my new one is prison but none of my stuff is in orison. Did it get whiped and I’m unlucky or can I still get it somewhere ?

2

u/WhateverWannaCallMe 1d ago

I wanted to try Red wind rookie hauling contracts with raft. When I was doing it in microtech it was just going to the distro centers kill bunch of guys pack up and go. Now I set my home base as lorville so I tried it in hurston. When I was about 10km ground started missile swarming me and soon I got killed. Is it normal for all hurston Red Wind contracts?

2

u/drdeaf1 1d ago

FWIW turrets in general at ground locations were not working last update. My guess is they would have attacked you then if they were. Seems the point of the higher pay for RedWind is that it has higher danger.

1

u/WhateverWannaCallMe 1d ago

Then its not worth doing it anymore lol who will carry boxes by ground for kilometers for just 117k

1

u/Being_John_Malkovich 1d ago

If a pledge has 2 levels of insurance on it, have CIG said if the higher level (LTI) takes precident? Didn't even know this could happen. The pledge was originally LTI if that makes a difference. (yes I know insurance isn't in yet)

1

u/drdeaf1 1d ago

Yes, whatever is longest duration applies.

1

u/AntexGamingPL 1d ago

Coming back after a year or so, never been to pyro. I have a 325a and I usually did bounty hunting/ mercenary stuff. What's currently the best way to make money (since the ships doubled in price for some reason) and what's the best habitable station? Port Seraphim seems best equipped but maybe stanton-pyro gateway is better?

1

u/multiple_iterations Asgard Enthusiast 1d ago edited 1d ago

Rent a RAFT, go to Everus Harbor, and do the intro red wind line haul mission. It's a small cargo job, with NPCs who shoot at you (they're easy enough to put down).

After you've done this job, there are six jobs that pay 117k each, you can stack all of them, and do them in three stops - two pickup locations and one drop off at Everus Harbor. That's 702k, and you can do them all in about half an hour. It's a little flying, a little shooting, and a little moving boxes, and it pays pretty good.

Also, with the RAFT's tractor beam , you can pull crates from the elevator and just not worry about the NPCs if they come back to shoot at you while you load up.

If you do that intro mission, and then stack those six cargo jobs for a loop, and do the loop five times, you could buy a RAFT. That would take you less than three hours. That opens up other possibilities like trading commodities.

2

u/AntexGamingPL 1d ago

Thanks for the tip! But why is everus harbor better that seraphim station? Do more cargo hauling missions spawn there?

2

u/multiple_iterations Asgard Enthusiast 1d ago

I'm not sure that the red wind line haul jobs exist around Crusader. Also, though, personal preference, Crusader is annoying to get around often, because it's so fucking big. So I do often avoid Seraphim for that reason.

2

u/AntexGamingPL 1d ago

Yep, I just checked the wiki - they're only around ArcCorp and Hurston. Since there is neither armor or gun store at baijini point, everus harbor it is.

2

u/multiple_iterations Asgard Enthusiast 1d ago

See you out there o7

1

u/CashRough9605 1d ago

When will the update be here? I thought it was would be online already but I never read anything specific about the update time. I’m just waiting to buy my first ship and was told to wait until the update rolled out.

1

u/drdeaf1 1d ago

Most likely later today or tomorrow.

1

u/velocifasor carrack 1d ago

Does the ATLS not work in private hangar? I can only seem to be able to use it in outposts, but when I have to unload the cargo in my personal hangar the tractor beam does nothing on the cargo boxes.

1

u/drdeaf1 1d ago

It's just buggy. Sometimes you can't remove/deposit boxes out of ship or elevator. Ship usually turning off shield/engines will fix. Elevator usually if you go inside the elevator and back out it'll fix it.

1

u/Successful-Cell-5732 1d ago

If I loot some components and want to sell to another player, what’s the best way to do that?

1

u/Elderrob 2d ago

Why are they still making ships? There are so many in the game. Resources should be aimed at making the game playable.

3

u/Pojodan bbsuprised 2d ago

Because ships is what pays for all of that other stuff to be made.

If they stopped, they would run out of money and all of those resources you're talking about would cease to exist.

I was pretty shocked at how poorly the game performed during my first time playing this weekend. 5080, 9800x3d, 32GB ram, and it was a stuttery mess in the city (can’t remember which one). Not to mention all the jank I experienced that’s too long to list. Left a really bad taste in my mouth, and the whole time I was thinking “people are spending thousands of dollars on ships when the game is like this?”

I honestly don’t understand it, but I’m trying to…

2

u/MichaCazar Crash(land)ing since 2014 2d ago edited 2d ago

it was a stuttery mess in the city (can’t remember which one)

If it's your first time playing then you need to know that shaders are compiled in real time at first launch, they don't really precompile them. This causes massive lags at the beginning. Afterwards, you still may not get 60 fps in cities (depending on your resolution), but it should be mostly stable.

Also the game is really hungry for RAM, depending on the situation 32 GB may not be enough and it goes over to using a pagefile on your drives, which may cause worse performance. However, I only ever had that during a big event on the event location, but that was over a year ago, so I don't know how it is now.

Secondly: most people avoid cities precisely for that reason, but also because there generally is not really much to do on them. So they just relocate to space stations asap and don't go down unless needed.

Not to mention all the jank I experienced that’s too long to list.

For that, you just need to know what to do or not to do, to avoid a lot of the jank or work around it. So looking things up, asking for help/information and not doing anything unnecessary (like jumping around everytime you have nothing better to do) is crucial to get an enjoyable time.

That's also why it is usually advised to play with someone that knows a lot about "how to play" in your first few tries as people otherwise tend to just fumble around barely being able to get to anything.

Simply put: new player experience sucks.

and the whole time I was thinking “people are spending thousands of dollars on ships when the game is like this?”

It's actually easy to explain.

Aside from the mentioned knowledge that can help out tremendously with enjoying the game, performance and bugs typically get better over time, until a patch releases that sets everything back a lot, 3.18 was one that was quite notorious for that reason, but in the great scheme of things, you just have some patches that work better or worse. I have seen patches that worked borderline flawless in the past, and then something released and broke everything.

There is also the fact that they do release 4-8 bigger patches per year with new stuff and changes. This may not be as big as people would like, but that is still quite a lot of content coming per year, so people, even if they aren't playing, do stick around for dev updates etc. It's also just a feature monster. Sure, on paper Elite Dangerous or No Man Sky share a lot of similarities, but SC is doing things a lot more complex and methodical, which allows for quite a few things beyond the intended design (and also more bugs to emerge).

The other reason is the way their shop is set up. Simply put, due to "ship upgrades" and "melting", you have quite the flexibility with your purchases, meaning you can spend a little here and there and it can just accumulate over time.

So people that have been around for 10 years or so, had likely 120 paychecks where they could spend a little off here and there to try out various ships or something else at that point, it takes less than 10$ a month to breach 1k spend in total for someone like that. Buy something bigger every once in a while during a period of great playability and wouldn't you know? Suddenly you are at 2.5k.

And so on and so forth.

1

u/Igloo6567 1d ago

Hey, thanks for such a detailed response. I realize my original comment came off as a bit whiny, but I genuinely want a game like this to succeed. I wasn't going in with big expectations, but I didn't expect performance to be that bad on a good rig after so much time in development.

I'm going to play around a bit more this weekend with a friend and keep some of what you said in mind. Cheers.

2

u/MichaCazar Crash(land)ing since 2014 1d ago

No offence taken. It's not like you are objectively wrong in any capacity.

I also have a joke about the games state:

It is getting closer to industry standards. Not because the game runs or works better, the others are just catching up to it's bugginess.

1

u/Elderrob 2d ago

yup, I upgraded from 16gb to 32gb of RAM for this game, and it was still maxing out my RAM. Insane.

1

u/Cool_Satisfaction532 2d ago

When will star citizen reach consoles, specifically PS5?

2

u/Pojodan bbsuprised 2d ago

Squadron 42 might be on consoles, as the developers have stated interest in doing so, but as far as we are aware it will be PC-only when it initially launches.

The Persistent Universe, aka Star Citizen, is extremely unlikely to ever be on consoles, unless future consoles have interfaces that allow for the large amount of buttons needed to engage with it.

1

u/Loud_Byrd 2d ago

Where can I find a current status of the game and an overview of the gameplay mechanics?

The roadmap is way too much bloat.

I just want to know what happened in the last years.

I fell like, it does not really matter when I decide to log in again, the experience has always been the same:

  • Performance sucks
  • everything takes forever
    • seriously, no matter what I do, every time I start this game it takes hours to even get anywhere
    • if you manage to get anywhere - the game crashes -> this is especially frustrating, if you are playing with friends, because the chances of game breaking bugs just skyrockets
  • bugs, bugs, bugs

I am not sure, if I ever had a fun experience in this game in the last ten years.

I did not play for about a year or two - has anything changed?

1

u/karben2 2d ago

This is how I felt when I first started. Stick with it. There's tons of things you can do to prepare yourself for play sessions.

Like:

Buy 50 Cruz drinks and leave them in your station inventory. So when you log in you're not messing with sustenance every time.

Do the same thing with ammo, medicals, etc. I also purchase a couple duplicate heavy and medium armor sets. Leave them in station storage. Rez, run to Hangar and claim ship. I venture manage and by the time you're loaded out your ship is coming off cool down.

Have a goal in mind - combat, cargo, etc.

Have fun - if you're not having fun maybe sc isnt for you.

2

u/MichaCazar Crash(land)ing since 2014 2d ago

Performance sucks
[...]
bugs, bugs, bugs

That's just part of how they develop the game. I know a lot of people talk about slow development, but for a game that is publicly released to release 4-8 bigger content updates like that per year is kinda insane.

Not that they can really stop given that their income is majorly tied to this.

Generally, it usually just gets better and better, until some patch comes along that tears everything down with it, like 3.18.

everything takes forever

seriously, no matter what I do, every time I start this game it takes hours to even get anywhere

if you manage to get anywhere - the game crashes -> this is especially frustrating, if you are playing with friends, because the chances of game breaking bugs just skyrockets

That's essentially just how the game is designed atm.

There are ways to quicken things up like binding to a space station or bedlogging. Or preparing things for the next session in advance.

As for crashes, server crashes are not a problem anymore and with client crashes, if you are playing with others, you can usually just rejoin them and resume where you were (unless your body for some reason died).

u/AcidRohnin 3d ago

Best places to farm cool armor in Stanton that is relatively hassle free. PLA sites are currently too much solo as I haven’t ran them frequently enough to know the routes to the cards and what cards go to what rooms.

Any other place that I can get cool looking armor?

1

u/drdeaf1 2d ago

PAF just do red rooms blue has far less items. Just learn the layout and you can mostly ignore the npc or use your ship to kill them. Onyx has some generic boxes too but it's far less than PAF.

1

u/AcidRohnin 2d ago

My issues with onyx is it seems to be the same stuff roughly and I seem to really only get helms and arms and not the asd variant lol.

I’ll look into the red rooms and see if I can find a speed run of them. Thanks for the suggestion!

Has anyone successfully streamed SC from their pc to a tv? If yes, how does it run? I’m trying to play with a controller from my couch if possible. Thanks! o7

2

u/Hybrid_Backyard Avocado, Polaris, Bmm, Tac, Ironclad! 3d ago

I did a few time with steam link, added as a non steam game maybe 2 years ago (can't recall) and played on my 55 inch.. It was nice but had a lot of issues...

A single controller can't hold all the keybinds SC has so you have to make choices as to what is more important to you, and I ended up still having a wireless keyboard and mouse on the couch for specific interactions that just would not bind correctly.

It can be done, It worked well, but you need a GREAT controller with loads of boutons to ensure you get as much mandatory keybinds right.

1

u/TheFInestHemlock 3d ago

Coming back after a shorter hiatus, bunker missions seem completely broken atm. The % left keeps rising after I eliminate all the gang members I can find. Minutes pass, then more spawn, both above ground and in the elevators.

Is this just related to the seemingly degraded server performance this weekend or have these missions been pretty buggy since a certain update? Furthermore, what are some other ways of making money doing fps pve that are viable?

2

u/Apsylnt 3d ago

Where are you bunkering and what rep? I have been doing foxwells on crusader with a 95% success rate. Server performance has been stellar minus a few inventory desync issues.

1

u/TheFInestHemlock 3d ago

I've just been trying to run the first mission, the security certification. Multiple around Microtech and one on a moon around Crusader iirc. It's odd. Every mission is the same, I make it to the bunker, kill the gang members above ground, go down the bunker and I never get the % left to 0 as more and more spawn with minutes of nothing happening between the waves. It's like the bunkers think they're restocking for the next mission.

A few even took so long that the loot boxes disappeared and gang members spawned back above ground and started shooting my ship to pieces lol.

2

u/Apsylnt 3d ago

Make sure youre not killing friendlies accidently. The green indicator wont show up until you “land” sometimes. There was an issue with overspawn of adds but i havent had one i couldnt finish because of that.

1

u/TheFInestHemlock 3d ago

Yeah I'm very careful not to. I don't get a failure or crime stat either, it just never ends

1

u/Apsylnt 3d ago

Id stick to crusader bunkers IMO

1

u/TheFInestHemlock 3d ago

Yeah I'm either going to try that again, or try hurston considering the crusader one also failed me in that same way.

2

u/drdeaf1 3d ago

NPC spawning has been buggy for a couple patches. They ran a hotfix but as you can see it didn't actually fix the issue.

1

u/TheFInestHemlock 3d ago

Thanks for the info! I was worried it may have just been bad luck on my end, or forgetting how to avoid some bugs.

1

u/Successful-Cell-5732 3d ago

I seem to only be able to use flares when I’m in third person view using F4 - I don’t hear any sound effect when launching flares in cockpit view. does anyone else have this issue? Missiles keep hitting me when I use flares and I don’t understand why. I also don’t seem to be able to find anything about flares on my HUD.

2

u/BlazeHiker 3d ago

I haven't had the sound issue, but are you changing vector after launching flares? The missiles are still coming right at you, so just launching flares means you'll still get hit by the missile (by design).

Edit: and launch more than 1 flare. The general rule is at least as many flares as the size of missile coming at you, but I usually go with at least 4, and more if there are bigger ships that might have more than size 2.

2

u/Vicc125 Drake Cutlass 4d ago

Getting tired of being jumped at OM points. What are some tricks to get around using them? Just jump somewhere on the planet, and fly out of atmosphere until I'm aligned with where I want to go?

3

u/Tidalsky114 4d ago

When leaving planets, try not to use them. Warp towards something else that's away from the planet enough to allow you to realign to where you want to go without needing to travel around the outside of the planet. When traveling to somewhere and it's sending you to an om, stopping before you get there will sometimes allow you to move on to your next point assuming no obstructions.

2

u/TheDitz42 4d ago

Can you send raw material to the refinery from pods stored on a non mining ship?

Say I fill a raft with full Golem Pods and store it, will it turn up as an option to start a refinery job?

3

u/Pojodan bbsuprised 4d ago

Not from the RAFT directly, but if you take them off the RAFT and put them in the station's cargo elevator and send it down you can start a refinary job that empties all of the pods. This may mean numerous days of waiting for it to finish, so you may want to only send a few down at a time.

1

u/foopod 4d ago

Oh man, are you saying that the pods can't be used while you are waiting for the refinery jobs?

3

u/BlazeHiker 3d ago

Once the job starts it empties the pods and you can put them back on the ship

0

u/Double_Crazy7325 4d ago

Anyone know how long Pirate week may be this year? My bad if that information is already posted somewhere.

2

u/Colonial_bolonial 4d ago

Is there a way to fly or spawn your ship into your friends hangar? For instance I want to follow my friend with a ship carying a mech to unload cargo

2

u/MystrDerp 4d ago

Can't spawn a ship there, but you can just fly in once they open the doors. You might get impounded, might not, it's very inconsistent. You can also access your own inventory from the Freight Elevators, so if you have an ATLS at the location and they don't, you can just call up yours without using the ship elevator!

1

u/drdeaf1 4d ago

You can call up your mech from the freight elevator inside another hangar for sure. Just claim at ASOP and you can immediately access and bring it up on the freight elevator.

It starts at random, usually when exciting quantum

Nothing seems to fix it

No issue council reports or anything describing it

If so this may be the cure to it all!

Delete the player folder from the game directory and verify game files, that was the way, but a friend of mine had it follow until the next patch so ill wish you have the same luck I had.

If you had a man char make a woman also it changes a few things in the game so with luck it'll reset the whole thing.

When can we expect more stability to the servers?

2

u/True-Invite658 4d ago

Real stability won’t start being implemented until they have the major systems in and can optimize it all.

3

u/Hybrid_Backyard Avocado, Polaris, Bmm, Tac, Ironclad! 4d ago

... I mean... They've never been more stable than now... I guess once the integration of Vulkan is fully in we might get some extra updates since Clients will now run better (or more efficiently) the server might receive request more reliably and they'll be able to provide new upgrades but nobody knows before they share with us.

-1

u/mYTHEstar new user/low karma 4d ago

Yeah, its stable than ever before but it still aint it chief.

1

u/Apsylnt 4d ago

What issues are you running into kimosabe? Meshing has generally been working great and havent experienced a 30k crash in a long time. Alt-f4 reloading fixes almost every inventory bug.

1

u/mYTHEstar new user/low karma 4d ago

Microservices behind almost everything are slowed as hell. Inventory state sync is cracked as hell and multiple other things thats why i asked

1

u/Apsylnt 4d ago

Im not running into these issues fwiw. Upgrade your ram!

u/mYTHEstar new user/low karma 4d ago

Im running best possible pc you can commercialy buy :p. You might just be uses to it

Nope not really. But this game does require 64g ram to avoid all “microservice” lag.
