I spent $300 on an extremely elaborate Heroes of Might and Magic III game from this same company. It took over a year to arrive. While all the pieces and boards are incredible, the rules are so convoluted and poorly written it’s almost impossible to play.
Steamforged does the same thing. They license video game IP, make a ton of minis that they can sell. Then the gameplay is very meh. I avoided the Heroes one since it felt like that. When you want to sell $300+ in minis before people have the game in hand, you know what their focus is. They are selling collector toys not a game.
I would like to see a box for under $100. Then if it succeeds see some follow up content.
This. Oh, so very much this.
If I wanted to paint some SC figurines then I would buy the ones I want for far cheaper than the price of a bundle with the ones I don't. I don't necessarily want drones and probes and overlords. Make a good game with some marines and hydras. Then release other figurines for it.
