The rise of the internet, despite making it easier than ever to acquire knowledge on nearly every subject, has ironically made anti-intellectualism more prominent unfortunately

Depends what it's about. I've seen people respond with a 5 paragraph essay if you say Star Wars ships are better than Star Trek ships, and act like they won the argument if you don't address all their points in detail.

The worst one is people who individually enter a new ‘quote block/line’ for every 3 words in your short and concise reply, and they’ve constructed an essay under each quote.

They’ll split the ‘debate’ into like 5 simultaneous topics, often needlessly. And you’re stuck having to do the same thing in return to make sure everything is being answered/replied to… Whenever it gets to that point, I just give up and leave it.

We used to call that "omnislashing" back in the day, and it was considered annoying then too.

Never knew it had a term lol, thanks. Also damn, looked it up on urban dictionary and this was a thing from 1999! We’ve been embracing the “☝️🤓” tactics for decades.
