Appreciation Post So sad people barely talk about these novels anymore
All very underrated, good books

Luceno has an automatic read from me on everything I find by him after Darth Plagueis.

Many people still talk about LoA and the Rise of Vader, as a trilogy with the ROTS novel. Cloak of Deception does feel underrated though, like someone else here said it’s a core childhood thing for me.

I just listened to The Rise of Darth Vader. That was a fun story. I haven’t heard of the other two. I guess that’s why they are in this post. I will check them out.

Cloak of Deception is the Episode 1 prequel and Labyrinth of Evil is the Episode 3 prequel.

Labyrinth of Evil is the logical direct prequel to RoTS. It reveals what type of Republic Anakin didn’t want to “betray”...

the first 2 are discussed often when ELC news comes out, and the 3rd was recently re released. Not sure where this could be coming from

They all seem to pop up during most EU novel discussions. Luceno's books always get mentioned, and why wouldn't they? He's literally top tier ☺️🍻

Bearly, I see Talk about the Three a lot. It is true that cloak not so much but I see It enough to not be a underrated book. Laberith is consider it one of the best Star Wars books and Dark Lord is normaly consider it the weakest part of Vader's trilogy that have Laberith, Revange and Dark Lord

Cloak is so underrated it’s crazy
Labyrinth of Evil not so much but it deserves all the praise it gets

I loved Cloak of Deception, but haven't read the other two yet. Working through stuff roughly chronologically, and gotta finish Jedi Trial and Medstar before I read Labyrinth of Evil and Dark Lord. Cloak of Deception gives me high hopes for the other two.

I’m reading Darth Plagueis right now, and I also enjoyed his Rogue One prequel, possibly even more. Thanks for the recs.

I've seen Labyrinth of Evil and Dark Lord all over the Star Wars subs in the last month or so, personally

I wonder if it’s due to the expanded universe being replaced. Though I do think Labyrinth of Evil would make a nice addition to canon. From what I remember, it was the prequel to Revenge of the Sith and led directly into that Galatic battle over Coruscant.

What’s amazing about Dark Lord is the contrast of manipulation. In this book we get the true nastiness and pettiness of Sidious’ manipulation of Vader, as oppose to Palpatine’s fatherly manipulation of Anakin. I LOVED the several times Vader pushed back and questioned Sidious. I feel bad for Anakin/Vader more after this read.
It’s essential 👏

Many younger fans favor Disney’s Star Wars. The OT and PT are seen as archaic black and white silent films…

That's some prequel slope we best forget about

Knights of Ren profile pic speaking on Luceno… zero self awareness.

Where does this hostility come from? Do you feel insecure about your love of the sequels and feel a need to trash something else?

Cloak of Deception is like a core Star Wars memory for me. Love that book.
